  1. Looking forward to his cards exceeding Jasson Dominguez level.
  2. 1. I don't trust Tony Clark because he f'd up last CBA. 2. I don't trust the owners because of their history of bad management.
  3. Yes, cheap teams will either keep arb players as long as possible. Extra years on the back end allow for them to either give below market salaries or trade the player with additional remaining years of control that increases trade value.
  4. Single game tickets go on sale this Friday at 10AM!
  5. They could have afforded Mookie. They didn't like the sticker price.
  6. If he's still turning profits, it's probably in part due to revenue sharing. Hard to say without actually seeing financials.
  7. I agree. Right now they are in a lull period of the offseason. Pitchers and catchers are supposed to report sometime the week of Valentine's Day. Talks should probably heat up the first few weeks of February. They should have a deal done within 30 days of that point.
  8. Who do the Jays retain? Do they build the team around Vlad Jr and Bichette 2? Would they be able to even keep both?
  9. You can see this as the Astros young core has moved on from HOU.
  10. Dombrowski decided to sign Eovaldi and a broken down Sale rather than re-sign Mookie. OR... they just didn't want to spend 300M+ on Mookie. JBJ left because he wanted to test the FA waters and the new GM didn't feel like he needed to keep JBJ around at that point. The new GM also determined that the young LFer was getting too expensive for his production. He wanted to spread the money out a little more.
  11. Years of control has everything to do with player salaries though.
  12. They should have just negotiated in good faith and said they'd start the new season under the old deal, but that a new deal would have to be done by 12/31/22.
  13. In this situation, there is also a long history of management acting illegally (collusion).
  14. The players want each team to be competitive. They would love to increase payrolls for the bottom 10 teams. I just don't see the owners doing it though.
  15. The problem is that MLB doesn't want owners to be forced into a minimum threshold. In 2021, the lowest payroll was the O's at $42M. The highest payroll was the Dodgers at $271M, which is over 5 times the amount the O's spent. In the NFL, the lowest team payroll was the Seahawks at $173M and the highest was the Cowboys at $205M. In the NFL and NBA, there just isn't that wide gulf of what teams have for payroll. What would even be an appropriate upper and lower threshold? 100M - 200M? 12 teams didn't pay their teams 100M last year.

  17. Yes, unless you are at every game and have good seats, the eye test is just a way to backup your personal opinion without providing evidence.

  19. MiLB offseason and regular season are not severely impacted. Only players on the 40 man roster are impacted. MiLB regular season will start on time even if their is no new CBA in April
  20. I really don't think ownership will budge off the 6 year FA piece. The restricted free agent aspect is tougher than NBA, because in NBA there is a "cap." If there were restricted FA's, the big market teams would just go after every A's/Rays/Pirates/etc guy knowing that those ownerships couldn't possibly match the dollar amount. I wonder if you'd have to give up draft pick compensation if you signed a RFA.
  21. Alex Gonzalez and Casey Fossum were a "big names."
  22. I would expand rosters to 28 players. I would allow for an unlimited amount of pitching changes. BUT pitchers are only allowed 3 warm up pitches on the mound unless the replacement is due to injury.
  23. A combination of both.
  24. I want expanded rosters.
  25. The 60 game season would have been worse for Sox fans if it was actually 162 games long.
