  1. He'll be 33 next year and hasn't been a 1 fWAR guy since prior to the SDP deal. No way does he opt out. If he does, no way does he get a deal better than 3/39. It's not going to happen. When JBJ signed his 2/24 deal, he came off a 1.8 year in 2019 and a 1.6 shortened year in 2020. JBJ was twice the player Hosmer was AND 3 years younger.
  2. Ball couldn't blame it on an injury though. Groome was a very good prospect prior to the injury.
  3. Mediocre defensive and aging catcher that was horrible running on the basepaths and his contract was up in two months anyway.
  4. Why would he opt out of the remaining guaranteed money?
  5. His curve isn’t what it was prior to TJS. His velo on his FB never came back either. Even SoxProspects, who are typically higher on everyone, were down on him this year. Only person who still like him was moon.
  6. C+ Didn’t lose anything. Didn’t really gain much.
  7. Source: SD is paying Hosmer down to the minimum. They are sending Sox about $44m. LOL
  8. Not really. Stuff wasn’t good anymore.
  9. https://twitter.com/PortlandSeaDogs/status/1554492624320581632 Defensive highlight for Rafaela.
  10. Undisclosed as of yet.
  11. Also not a Sox deal.
  12. @ChrisCotillo Christian Vázquez said the door is open for him to return to the Red Sox in free agency this winter.
  13. @ChrisCotillo Christian Vázquez wanted to soak up one last BP session in a Red Sox uniform after learning he had been traded. Alex Cora obliged. "He asked me, ‘Hey, can I go take batting practice?’ I said, ‘Of course, you’re part of the family.’" https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2022/08/christian-vazquez-asked-alex-cora-for-one-last-bp-in-a-red-sox-uniform-and-the-manager-obliged-of-course-youre-part-of-the-family.html When Vázquez emerged for an awkward batting practice session that doubled as his final act as a Red Sox uniform, he knew his 14-year run in the organization had come to an end. The Red Sox -- contrary to how it looked as it played out -- weren’t hanging Vázquez out to dry.
  14. It's been ugly. There's no getting around it. Maybe they'll be watchable again?
  15. You don't need to pay for Strahm. They didn't need to pay for Diekman!
  16. Dalbec should be in Worcester. Franchy should be in Japan.
  17. And yet, he's still lightyears better than what the Sox have put on the field this year for whatever reason.
  18. Franchy can't play 1b ever again. The last 3 weeks: 357 OPS -2 wRC+ 51.1 K% 80.8 EV 169 wOBA DFA
  19. Yeah, he's been ok. The Padres just overpaid for him. If you look back at his Royals track record, it made no sense for him to get the contract he got. fWAR 2011 1.1 2012 -1.3 2013 3.1 2014 -0.2 2015 3.5 2016 0.0 2017 3.8 That's a little bit of a roller coaster ride. Then he went to a ballpark that massively suppresses hits (ballpark factor is 30th for H and 2B). Maybe he'll be better in Fenway? Maybe he'll still be somewhat mediocre?
  20. All those panda hats they had to write off and send to a third world country...
  21. C'mon, we know he meant RHP...
  22. One of the few memories I have of Franchy is just getting hyped by watching youtube clips of him hitting bombs for the Pads and Orsillo yelling FRANCHY CORDERO! It was a good ear worm.
  23. We were #blessed to witness the Cordero experience.
  24. 107 wRC+ this year. He gets on base, just doesn't hit for power. Sox have a 75 wRC+ at 1b for the year. This is an upgrade. Some people had asked for Christian Walker instead. He also has a 107 wRC+.
