  1. He has a better BB rate in AAA than German.
  2. It's the most likely play. They can send him back down without losing him. If anything else happens in BOS, they can just call him up again.
  3. I don't think Arroyo has any trade value. I'm not sure what a broken Kiké can bring back, but I think I'd be more likely to keep him for the stretch run. Sox need to decide if they want to try to advance in the playoffs of play for the future. They have some expiring contracts they can deal. As jacko has said, the worst thing they can do is to get nothing out of these expiring deals. It's great for the Yankees, but bad for the Sox long term.
  4. Kiké is a 0 win player this year. Seabold doesn't look like an MLB arm. Who knows what Sale will be when he comes up. "Can you believe we split a series with the Yankees even though Tyler Danish wasn't available?" Are you trying to make this argument in a round about way?
  5. You think they are going to carry 5 OFers? Who are they going to take off the roster to make room for Kiké then?
  6. Was listening to the game on the radio on 7/6 as we were driving back from MA. Just as McDonough was talking about Sawamura having a strong FIP for the previous month (or whatever time frame), Sawamura then chucked the ball straight to the backstop. McDonough chuckled and Sawamura forgot where the strike zone was for the remainder of the night. I think they could get by without him and Brasier if they were going to deal for two better arms. I don't think these two guys have high upside anymore and I wouldn't trust either in any sort of leveraged situation going forward. Both have been "better" lately, but statcast isn't a fan.
  7. It'll be interesting to see what Ort can provide. Right now, German only really is a one pitch guy. Maybe he can come in and pitch the 6th inning, but he's certainly not ready for a high leverage role in 2022. Ort is probably a better fit for this season.
  8. If Kiké had another year to go on his contract, maybe you'd consider forcing him back into the lineup. I think he needs to earn his spot back. Make him the super UTIL guy. Move him around the way the Dodgers used to. Duran either figures OF out or he doesn't. At least you have the 2nd half to see the deficiencies and make a plan for 2023.
  9. The problem is that everyone believes that they themselves are the ones being rational.
  10. Thaddeus Ward rehab assignment #1 (FCL)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 HBP. The 25-year-old righty is coming back from June 2021 Tommy John surgery. He's #20 on the #SP60.
  11. A shaky prospect who has 23 HR, 72 RBI, 876 OPS in less than a year in MiLB. He's 22 and you've already written him off. So shaky to Sox brass that they just promoted him to AA last weekend. Great analysis.
  12. Not for anything significant.
  13. Yes and because Kiké isn't under contract next season.
  14. At least his k rate isn't 30%!
  15. I don't see how this guy is on the Sox 40 man roster next season unless there is a massive turnaround.
  16. I guess...
  17. Everyone could see something like this coming a mile away. At some point, the Sox would lose a close game in TOR. People that support Houck's decision just blame Bloom. People that think Houck should just get the vaccination because he's spent his whole life getting vaccinated without having a problem with it before just blame Houck. 1. Houck should stop being a baby and get vaccinated as it's part of his job. 2. Bloom isn't good at building a bullpen. Both things can be true at once.
  18. Really concerning that Kavadas now has a 4/1 k/bb ratio in High A. May have to be sent back to low A!
  19. I don't know what else to say about it. He was just doing what he thought was best for his family. Spend more time looking for better relievers or be at home? Who am I to judge?
  20. Even a negative test isn't a great indicator, but is a far better bet than just a vax card. Limiting the spread wouldn't be everyone carrying cards around, but simply masking when in close quarters. A baseball player in the middle of Sky Dome? Probably not going to impact the spread at all. More likely to spread it at a hotel, at a restaurant or whatever.
  21. I think Danish is ok, but just isn't a high leverage guy. You still need guys to pitch the 6th.
  22. I wanted to DFA him weeks ago. I think there are a few AAA guys that need to at least be given a shot. We've seen guys like Schreiber make a difference. Maybe someone like Ort, German, Politi, Bazardo, Kelly can do the same. Robles just doesn't have it.
  23. Nope. I can't blame Bloom. It's his freedom to choose not to have better arms in the pen. Who am I to say?
