  1. The problem with Bell is that he's horrible at 1b and his contract is up after this season. He's also going to command too high of a price tag.
  2. @redsoxstats Olney says, "a guy that other teams say is available is JD Martinez."
  3. @BeyondtheMnstr The Red Sox have designated righty Phillips Valdez for assignment and have moved newly acquired outfielder Abraham Almonte onto the 40-man roster.
  4. It can't be due to a small sample size though!
  5. I mentioned Division titles AND the WS. Maybe you just aren't that good at reading?
  6. Renfroe was bad last year in Fenway, but his DRS is much better in MIL. Hard to say what Verdugo would look like in RF in 2022 without actually seeing it.
  7. My assumption is that he is getting worse defensively. I can see that he is slowing down year over year on statcast. 2019 12 DRS 2020 7 DRS 2021 1 DRS 2022 -4 DRS Would he be better in a larger RF in Fenway? I don't see how.
  8. Personally, I know nothing about the attitude issues. To me, it just looks like his defense isn't getting any better as shown by the eye test and the advanced metrics.
  9. In a different park, Verdugo could reasonably play RF. Home at Fenway? No.
  10. And his bat will really need to be a carrying tool if it's going to LF.
  11. I'm not sure he can get to be "average" if that.
  12. Maybe he heard Verdugo yell that he had it, but it was just the worst look ever in a horribly rotten game.
  13. What would you call it then?
  14. How much are we paying Sale for him not to pitch for us? JBJ to not be a positive fWAR player?
  15. So not just along for the ride then? As always, flags fly forever. The reason the Sale extension doesn't work out as no flags have come after it. Don't pay for past performance.
  16. SSS. I think think there's lots of noise that contributes to this. If there's a guy rounding 3rd and you know JD is up next, you're more likely to hold them than if you know Arroyo or Plawecki is up next.
  17. David Price's deal was worth it. With him in the fold, they won 3 straight AL East titles and a WS. They are now eating some money on the back end, but I think it was worth it. Would have still rather signed Lester though. His deal was less egregious than Sale's actually.
  18. I think he may be able to figure it out with his bat. His glove is just a mystery.
  19. If you are just comparing JD vs Schwarber, yes Schwarber is much more expensive than JD. Also, Schwarber may not be a good bet to age well. This season could be a high point for him and hitting in PHI may not correlate to how he'd hit in Fenway.
  20. They are, but only because of how many Wild Card spots they have added. This team could be in closer contention than the hated 2019 team, but actually have a worse record.
  21. He's had 5 years to get better and it's still looking pretty rough. This is his age 26 season. In CF 2021: -5 DRS, -28.8 UZR/150 2022: -6 DRS, -15.5 UZR/150
  22. Not really as I don't think you make trades for $10M backup CFers. If Kiké was healthy, he'd still be the everyday guy. Will they still sell? I'm not sure if they sell regardless of what their record is. Should they sell? I think they should make phone calls and see what offers are out there. Considering what Dan Vogelbach fetched, seems like the Sox should explore trading everyone.
  23. We'll see if you can catch this locomotive by the end of this year. Chance it makes it's way to Portland. https://www.milb.com/player/niko-kavadas-694359
  24. Verdugo can't score any runs because of the anemic bats behind him hitting 7th, 8th and 9th.
