  1. The Sox weren't bringing the cake. They were mooching.
  2. No s***, huh? Probably like what the Devers meeting is right now then, not just cake.
  3. Just to eat dinner or because he wanted to get Schilling on board with coming to the Sox?
  4. Conflicting reports! 1. Yellow Cake Chocolate Frosting 2. Junior's Cheesecake 3. Cookie Puss
  5. How many other birthday parties will the Sox front office be going to this offseason? Many?
  6. I can't believe he traded the Grandyman! He gutted the team! If Maybin is the only top prospect that DD dealt from Detroit, that system must have been fine.
  7. If Frank McCourt still owned the team, they'd just sign Beni and JBJ.
  8. The conflicting reports are Sox waterboys Speier/Cotillo saying that Romero just happens to be in DR 3 hours out of his way to have cake with Devers, while the DR source says that Devers camp told him that they've been discussing an extension. Which is more plausible. 3 hour drive for cake or 3 hour drive to talk about a contract at least briefly.
  9. The story about Mookie moving to 2b for him...
  10. Quite the high bar there.
  11. Um, that's exactly what Detroit did. DD hired before 2002 season. World Series appearance in 2006. Better run of success later on 2011-2014. How are you so bad at this?
  12. I vaguely remember the media blaming the Fielder contract on ownership at the time, but...
  13. What farm pieces did he trade to get the 2006 WS team? That was your assertion! Or were you just making s*** up?
  14. I thought that's where my mlb.tv money went?
  15. The Cabrera contract and the Fielder contract were the two items that can come under suspicion. However, he played a large role in turning that org around. He just couldn't get them over the top and give them a good bullpen.
  16. He "traded everything away" but was able to be in 2nd place or better in 7 of 9 years? 9 years! Traded EVERYTHING away? C'mon... The Tigers had Scherzer, Verlander, Cabrera... Who was traded away when you look at the 2006 squad? Most of it was homegrown guys! https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/DET/2006.shtml The big moves were all Free Agents (Rogers/Ordonez/Rodriguez), not trades? Like where do you come up with this stuff??? Look at the roster. Who was the important guy that they traded for? Which prospect did they trade for the 2006 team???
  17. Whatever is the slowest.
  18. Update: @hgomez27 Can confirm. The Red Sox's offer is expected to nearly double the initial offer we reported on April 6, which was rejected by Rafael Devers. As reported by @YancenPujols , there's talk of a contract extension of at least 7 guaranteed years. So 7/200ish?
  19. He rebuilt the Tigers from nothing and kept them in contention for the majority of the 13 years he was there even though it included 4 years of rebuilding at the beginning. Tigers 2003 - AL Record 119 Loses Tigers 2006 - AL Pennant C'mon man...
  20. You see, JBJ has a really good glove and there's no way that his bat is going to be as horrible as it was in 2021. That was an aberration! You're talking about ALCS MVP JBJ!
  21. Don't give the keys to your teenage son and then get mad when he crashes your nice car.
  22. Sale is off after 2024. Barnes is off after 2023. Whitlock and Story are the only current long term contracts besides those two. They pay Manny and Pedey about 4-5M every year through 2026.
  23. They could have just nontendered Renfroe and been better off.
  24. And he was ok with paying 12 for Bradley because 7 for Renfroe was too much!
  25. IDK, Texas grabbed Semien AND Seager last season. It just takes one owner to want to take their club out of irrelevancy. These people have the money, they just don't always want to spend it. I think Diaz is the LEAST likely FA for the Sox. That guy isn't leaving NY.
