  1. Well, I'd rather Xander AND Raffy combined than Judge.
  2. AFL #'s Yorke 926 OPS, 7 2b, 12 BB Scott 1064 OPS, 4 HR Kavadas 773 OPS, 11 BB Abreu 525 OPS Webb 2.25 ERA, 1.13 WHIP
  3. Desperate Dave Dombrowski move. I'm not against it.
  4. Bradley as a player is fine for the Red Sox. The salary was too high. The trade was silly. Having him on the roster isn't an issue if you are just burying his bat 9th. Diekman's FIP every year prior to 2021 was under 4 except for 2017 when he only pitched 10 innings. I think he looked at Diekman and thought 2021 was just a down year and that he could bounce back. Seems more like his career is just coming to a close. There's a whole lot of red on his Statcast page prior to 2021. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/jake-diekman-518617?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
  5. 693 OPS vs RHP in 2022. 754 OPS vs RHP in 2021.
  6. Hard disagree. DHern: 85.1 IP 14.03 K/9 72.4 LOB% 4.31 xFIP 0.0 fWAR Valdez 86.2 IP 8.10 k/9 64.0 LOB% 4.74 xFIP -0.1 fWAR
  7. @TurnerGivens The Mariners could have possibly found the next Luis Castillo. His name is Phillips Valdez. (Claimed off waivers from the Red Sox in July) Aside from some size (40 lbs) & velo differences (3 mph on FB/SL), the similarities in mechanics & pitch metrics are promising. There are some deeply unserious people in this world.
  8. I wouldn't have him as a primary DH. I think you could spread it around between Dalbec, Arroyo, Refsnyder and Hosmer. I don't think they would necessarily do a "platoon" DH, but more of a timeshare amongst a lot of guys or when they want to give a position guy a day off from the field.
  9. I believe they wanted him a few years ago and he decided to stay with the Astros. I'm not sure he'll wind up being truly available.
  10. I'm not opposed to them throwing Duran back at 2b. Time is basically running out for him. He just turned 26. They need to try something else with him. OF isn't working. I don't think Hosmer is a great option. I just think he's cheap and is "pull in case of emergency" if something happens to Casas. Dalbec is probably a platoon only bat going forward.
  11. I get why people don't like DHern. However, he's a guy that if he just figures it out a little bit, he becomes a late inning arm. He's got much more remaining potential than a lot of the other names on the list.
  12. What people like jung are upset about are analytics being shown to them on their tv screens. If NESN focused less on it and Bloom focused more on it, jung would probably be happier.
  13. Seeing that the root cause of this terrible year was injuries, I'm not sure how anyone can point their fingers at data analysis as being a problem.
  14. To me, Hosmer is more likely to provide value than Ronaldo Hernandez, Jeter Downs or Yu Chang. I don't see why they'd DFA him prior to Spring Training. He's cheap and decent injury insurance.
  15. Cordero 1b: -4 DRS -19.2 UZR/150 -8 OAA Calling Cordero "versatile" is a stretch greater than what he can do when Raffy is throwing the ball over to him.
  16. Not the Red Sox offer, that Mookie's statement was just for PR. That he really didn't want to stay in Boston no matter what. I personally have no idea what Mookie would have done. I just wish the Sox did counter and then our arguments would at least have a little more teeth and less conjecture.
  17. Cordero has NO trade value. As I said above, he's been DFA's numerous times and has yet to be claimed. If someone wanted him, they could have grabbed him for free. Why trade for him? I think Darwinzon has more trade value than Danish, Cordero and maybe Ort. Of the list, Hosmer is the least likely to be DFA'd unless they bring in another 1b somehow.
  18. Cordero has been DFA'd numerous times and has never been claimed. I would just keep doing it.
  19. Maybe as a Rule 5 pick for another org.
  20. I hope he's cracking it due to performance and not due to Sox ineptitude this offseason.
  21. The good thing for the rest of MLB is that the owner of the Astros is a dumbass who likes to insert himself. If he gets rid of the GM this offseason, as has been suggested, it shows me that they aren't a serious team long term.
  22. Which MLB organization has the most championships in the past 20 years?
  23. I saw that a while ago. People said on here it was just for PR. I think the Sox should have at least counter offered and shown more interest in retaining a franchise player like that.
  24. Bleacher Report is the worst. The Mikey Romero reach: 874 OPS between the complex league and low A If he's a guy you like and it enables you to sign Roman Anthony AND Brooks Brannon, seems like a smart pick when the player actually performs too.
  25. His past 3 years have been a mess. 2020: 20 innings, cut short due to injury 2021: 1.1 inning, cut short due to injury 2022: 0 innings, out due to multiple injuries. The only season he didn't get put on the IL/DL or MiLB inactive list was 2013. 14: 15 Day DL in April, transferred to 60 Day in June, returned in August 15: 15 Day DL in May, wasn't reactivated until September 16: 15 Day DL 17: 2 separate 10 Day DL trips 18: 2 separate 10 Day DL trips 19: 10 Day DL 20: 15 Day IL transferred to 60 Day and out for season 21: 15 Day IL transferred to 60 Day and out for season 22: 60 Day IL out for season
