They were very lucky with health, especially with starting pitching.
I don’t think Sale really helped turn much at all around.
I agree that the team had some serious flaws.
A contract that large is a Henry decision, not a Bloom decision. I believe he was told the amount to negotiate then told to trade him.
Complain about the return, but it’s Henry’s plan to cut cost. If it wasn’t Bloom, it’d be some other GM.
The Story signing did suck and Bloom has created a mess of a team this year. It’s been weird trying to figure out his 1b/OF/RP plans the past few years.
Tom Glavine threw a few stinkers in 1987, but Bello has yet to have one promising start. Not that Bello is at all in that category, just saying that early bad performances do turn around.
