  1. You know why.
  2. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/bostons-thad-ward-should-draw-interest-in-the-rule-5-draft/ Thad Ward should be of interest to several teams come next month’s Rule 5 draft. Currently no. 15 on our Boston Red Sox prospect rankings with a 40+ FV, the 25-year-old right-hander wasn’t added to the club’s 40-man roster — a decision that left Eric Longenhagen “a tad surprised.” Our lead prospect analyst explained that Ward “looked good in the Arizona Fall League, locating 92-94 mph fastballs while mixing in two above-average breaking balls… [and] looks like a possible bulk relief fit right now.”
  3. @MacCerullo Today is MLB's tender deadline, and with a full 40-man roster the #RedSox could make some cuts to clear space for future free agent signings. Who might be on the chopping block? Some possible non-tender candidates. Taylor - Arb eligible and perpetually injured, they probably keep him around, projected 1.1M Brasier - Arb is projected 2.3M, should be nontendered Chang - Unless Arroyo is leaving, what is the purpose of keeping an arb eligible guy like Chang around? Cordero - Arb eligible at 1.5M, time to let him be free DHern - lots of potential, probably sticks around another year IMO
  4. Senga instead of Eovaldi. Correa instead of Bogey and an OFer?
  5. They are very planned. Grossly planned sometimes.
  6. Not that reasonable if another team wanted to give him 20% more.
  7. They are the yahoos.
  8. I don't think the leaks were coming from the baseball ops side, it was from the ownership level (aka John Henry, Tom Werner).
  9. For the trades and early draft rounds, sure. I don't think the GM really has much of a clue once you get deep into the farm system or later rounds of a draft. Scouts may remember, but GMs won't.
  10. The guys that changed are at the top. The bones still seem to be the same.
  11. If they offered more than 300M, they would have told us. This ownership group leaks worse than my old shed.
  12. Or 350m?
  13. I'm not complaining. If we keep refining the conversation, maybe we'll get better at it.
  14. Per BTV Quantrill for Wikelman Gonzalez Seabold
  15. The organization is very similar to what it was back in 2016. Whether the guys who scouted Cal are still there or not, it's hard to know.
  16. Once an OFer is pitching, he's no longer and OFer, he's actually a pitcher by rule.
  17. There's comfort in having this same conversation again.
  18. Without that counteroffer from ownership, we'll never know unfortunately.
  19. I would have signed Montero for that because he would have been the closer in BOS. Diaz was a lot of money and wasn't leaving NY. The worst contract though was Suarez for 5/46, a 32 year old with less than 50 career MLB innings. That's crazy to me.
  20. Mookie was traded.
  21. Having just 1 Martin Perez removes all value any remaining 2018 Red Sox players could have. I mean, that guy couldn't possibly have been good in 2021 or later.
  22. I don't view it as a fluke, you stated it was a fluke. I've said over and over that the 2021 squad had many of the same players as the 2018 squad.
  23. It matters because you've been complaining about the cliff since as long as I can remember.
  24. If the cliff is only really one down year, who cares? Why post about it endlessly for year on end?
  25. On one hand you say things like "some of use predicted tough times ahead" and couch it with 2021 being a fluke year stuck between 2020 and 2022. However, you also said: C'mon man... You can't say you predicted "tough times" but then have your own Realistic View Part II thread state a prediction of 92 wins for 2022... At least stick with the same argument. The cliff WAS 2020 for you. Bloom used magic and wits to get back to the ALCS in 2021. The cliff is gone... You said so last offseason. If there is poor performance now, it's due to Bloom and not due to the cliff...
