  1. They are not infallible. Will he really only OPS 738? Seems a little light to me.
  2. Do ANY of the high profile guys get signed at the winter meetings? Do the meetings even make a difference anymore? They seem to be more of a relic of the past to me.
  3. I guess your point wasn't clear? Must have been a bad post!
  4. He came back from the wrist injury and put up 889 OPS, but then missed the last few weeks due to another injury.
  5. You forgot to put that in green.
  6. Probably Suzuki and I'm not alone on this island. Projections for 2023: Suzuki FGDC/Steamer 3.4/3.5 Story FGDC/Steamer 2.9/2.9 Add to that the longer contract with the higher AAV...
  7. It wasn't just "one month." April 596 May 841 June 678 July 659 Unless you mean the "just one month" was the one month he was really good?
  8. Attendance peaked in 2007 with 79M fans. From 04-17, there were 70+M fans each season. 2018: 69.6M 2019: 68.5M 2022: 64.5M
  9. I think it's fair to say that I need to see it first. As of today, Suzuki is the better offensive player and Story is the better defensive player.
  10. It was a whole year of not signing ANY international prospects. That's really bad.
  11. I understand, but did they really "mortgage the future"? Seems like they just signed some bad contracts and ownership freaked out?
  12. I'm unsure who you are referencing for 2023 so I won't speculate. Mayer will be good. Yorke had a terrible 2022 and still has a lot to prove. Maybe his bat doesn't end up being good enough to drag the rest of his skill set to BOS? Lugo is a 2b/3b who showed zero power until last season. Most likely is just and up and down utility guy and not a regular. If Koss gets extended run in BOS, things have gone horribly wrong. He's not a very good player. Hamilton is fast, but doesn't really do anything else very well. He's ok defensively but has a weird swing for a speedy guy. Binelas was just horrible last season. I couldn't project him making it past AAA at this point. His bat just hasn't handled advanced pitching at all. Ward is most likely getting selected in the Rule 5 draft.
  13. Was Story injured at the start of the season? I don't remember. His OPS was below 600 in April.
  14. I was more worried about notin's turn of phrase than the Joelyfication of the bullpen.
  15. @DSzymborski A sneak peak at the FanGraphs depth chart for the first ZiPS team of 2023, the Boston #RedSox. Full projections up Monday. https://twitter.com/DSzymborski/status/1596615062898475009
  16. Bloom did mess things up for the Sox with the international signings due to his indiscretions.
  17. Horrible. Not on a Monday morning please.
  18. I'm fine with doing a full auditing of his moves. Weird to put Valdez in there IMO.
  19. People saw him as having closer upside. He got 11 saves with the Sox in 2021.
  20. Sox would have been 6M closer to getting under the lux cap at the trade deadline.
  21. Yes. Suzuki was a much more consistent hitter and didn't go into extended slumps. Better k% and bb%. Story was great in May, but underperformed the rest of the year. For 2022, Suzuki was the better offensive player. What will Story's career look like post-Coors? We only have 2022 to judge so far.
  22. I hate when the Sox mortgage their future like this: Red Sox receive: Curt Schilling Red Sox trade: Casey Fossum Brandon Lyon Jorge De La Rosa Mike Goss
  23. What names were traded that "mortgaged the future" though under Henry? Rizzo?
  24. If they signed Suzuki, they'd have two holes to fill: 2B and SS. Instead, they have two holes to fill: RF and SS. Story: 6/140, 2 years older, better defense Suzuki: 5/85, 2 years younger, better offense
  25. Well, you named 5 guys, but he brought in about 30. I wouldn't say he has a strong record of building a pen considering their year to year results out there. If Valdez is one of the bright spots, it says a lot about the job he's done. Yuck!
