  1. Shemp's the OG so he gets the call.
  2. Kelly doesn't have a good walk rate. His k rate didn't play up at the MLB level last season. Until it does, that walk rate keeps him behind Brasier. He still had a 4 ERA. Crawford didn't pitch all that great out of the pen. His walk rate was really bad out there. Neither guy has anything greater than a middle relief ceiling in the pen. I think they are about in the same tier of pitcher. Brasier is much more expensive though.
  3. I'm not certain he's on this team in April.
  4. "That's when the cannibalism started."
  5. Moving Kiké off of CF would be one of the biggest mistakes made this offseason towards the defensive profile of the 2023 Sox.
  6. Dugo CF '21: -7 DRS in 337 Innings Duran CF '22: -9 DRS in 416 Innings They are basically the same defender in CF. Dugo was slow in '21, but was even slower in '22 per Statcast. His defensive number could be even worse than Duran's now.
  7. German is not better right now and has no secondary pitches. Walter needs time and has barely pitching in AAA as he missed the second half with a significant injury. Wink could use time in the pen to ramp up his arm. Murphy ended his season on a sour note in AAA with a bloated ERA and is not close to being ready. Wyatt Mills is all of a sudden better than Brasier? How? K's less guys. BB's more guys. He's a project right now. Mata is still slotted as a starter for now. Kelly and Crawford will probably make the Opening Day roster along with Brasier.
  8. Darwinzon's best season was comparable to what Jake Diekman provided last year. He wasn't improving in AAA. He wasn't improving in winter ball. He hasn't been under 6 BB/9 since A+. Thaddeus is a legit complaint.
  9. How many tv's do you want Sale to break this season?
  10. awesome: extremely impressive or daunting; inspiring great admiration, apprehension, or fear I agree with Chaim's assessment then!
  11. It's been 5 years. He's not going to get better at it.
  12. Dalbec is also a faster runner than Verdugo. Depening on how well he tracks flyballs, he could actually be pretty good as a corner OFer. They definitely need reliable guys who can cover innings somewhere. If Profar can start 120+ at 2B, that would be huge. We know Arroyo can't. I think they should just sign Iggy and be done with it. Sox fans would be ok with that as a transition.
  13. Ok, but we've had comparisons to Ellsbury and Jose Bautista when talking about Jarren f***ing Duran. I will delete my account if he has a 9.5 fWAR season or hits 50 bombs in a year in MLB. Both those guys ended with 30+ fWAR.
  14. Duran career: 335 PA -0.8 fWAR Dalbec 2022: 353 PA -0.1 fWAR Considering that Dalbec was ok from 20-21, I think I'd be less inclined to give up on him than Duran.
  15. They are both presumably breathing and anticipating a paycheck this season.
  16. Unfair to compare Ellsbury 2007 to what we have seen from Duran in 2021 and 2022. Duran is just lost out there.
  17. Baseball history is littered with prospects that can't make the jump to the bigs. Duran is most likely one of them.
  18. I'd consider giving Dalbec run as backup 3B/RF. He also still has options and can work on his fielding down in WOO for the first two months before feeding him into the fire ala Arroyo.
  19. Kind of unfair as he was on 4 teams in 2004 as a 23 year old. Age 25 season with PIT: 16 HR, 58 R, 51 RBI, 96 wRC+. Duran didn't come close to this last year. Bautista had Duran's AAA BB and K rates. Age 26 season with PIT: 15 HR, 75 R, 63 RBI, 97 wRC+. We'd all take that from Duran this season, but that is not going to happen.
  20. What's definitive is his offense REGRESSED last season. He's been in the system for 5 years. Not much meat left on that bone.
  21. Dalbec > Duran
  22. What promise have you seen out of him? Dude can’t hit MLB velo. He has no defensive position. His power hasn’t played up in MLB.
  23. Duran will turn 27 next season. Anything about his offense beimg a work in progress is embarrassing. DFA’able.
  24. I’m also just thinking that he missed substantial time last year due to an additional injury.
  25. C’mon man. He’s a substantial risk.
