  1. Bloom: We'll give you 1/40.
  2. For now, the power is Story and Casas. We don't know of Yoshida's power will translate to much more than what Verdugo already has. Will there be more moves? Is Dalbec a platoon DH/OFer?
  3. Bloom is planning San Diego North East.
  4. An embarrassing charade for sure. All their PR ******** just needs to stop. I don't want the front office to be an icky used car salesman. Just run a baseball team and shut the f*** up.
  5. If they all walk and Bloom isn't fired, it tells us that it was an ownership call. 100% They need to be more aggressive in extending their own guys like they did with Whitlock. Maybe Bloom has the willingness to do it, but the Sox have just let it go too long in the past? IDK
  6. Suzuki's contract has been fine so far. Kim (Korean, not Japanese) struggled adjusting in 2021, but more than made up for it last season. Those two guys are the most recent offensive talents to cross the Pacific.
  7. It means the Sox need to either extend Raffy now or trade him. Like do it today.
  8. I was thinking the Sox would have to move him to 3b/LF/RF at some point. We'll see what the Padres will do with him. The power decrease was dramatic last season and I do remember MANY posters on here complaining about his RBI totals and him not being able to get it done in the clutch.
  9. If he had played in MLB, it's probably 200M if you look at what has been handed out this offseason. Seems like the "value play" that Bloom talks about.
  10. Maybe it translates, maybe it doesn't. There's a risk with every FA signing.
  11. I see the fascination with DHern for sure. Ort and Brasier can just go. They still need to drop someone to fit everyone onto the 40 man anyway. We'll see what happens.
  12. Senga Andrus Conforto That would be a big finish, honestly. I think they don't get Senga though. Maybe Kluber? It's more likely they just run Verdugo out there in RF this season for better or worse.
  13. I disagree. He sold the SOCCER team because the value of those clubs are very volatile. I think he holds onto the Sox for a long time.
  14. He is today. The worry is that he is 30 and that the contract is long and will be ugly in a few years. He's not a great defender and his good defensive numbers from this season wer a mirage due to the shift. We don't even know where he'll be playing in SD and how that will affect his hitting. He was dreadful when transitioned to 3b early in his career.
  15. Yes, they should have kept Renfroe. An OF or Yoshida, Kiké, Renfroe looks pretty good to me.
  16. Got it.
  17. He's not a top 10 closer anymore, but he's better than what we had. It's clear that they weren't comfortable handing it over to Whitlock or Houck for whatever reason. My guess is Jansen starts as the closer and then over the course of the next two years, it's shared with the younger dynamic arm of Bryan Mata who becomes fulltime closer in 2025.
  18. They got a looong look at him after he came back from injury. Maybe his "stuff" hasn't returned. Maybe they determined that his upside is just "middle relief" profile going forward. He got injured in the AFL again. Maybe they just thought the value of him on the 40 man wasn't worth it. I disagree, but we'll see where 2023 takes us.
  19. Don't.
  20. He didn't set the world on fire, but in 111 games he would have been the Sox best OFer last season by a country mile. Yoshida will be a big time upgrade for this team.
  21. Bloom is most likely not here in 6 years, but Henry will be. I think it's obvious who would then decide the length of the deals.
  22. There was a limit when DD was here. They let Mookie go. They re-signed Sale and Eovaldi instead. Bloom is working under the same constraints. They have about the same total payroll, it's just being allocated differently.
  23. It seems like they aren't adjusting their prices. That's their business model I guess? Until they do that, I can't project it will happen.
  24. The Betts contract should hold up ok in retrospect. The Bogaerts contract should get UGLY. I think the Devers contract should be fine since he's young. Sox should have at least kept 2 of them. Now, they'll probably just pass on all 3.
