  1. They would have just just offer him 10/350 for him to sign now. Otherwise, he's just going to wait it out.
  2. Sox wouldn't re-sign Mookie. They were blown out of the water with Xander. I don't see an indication that they'd re-sign Devers. There is no way they can go into this season with Devers as the 3b unless they have extended him. If he gets to the trade deadline, the return decreases. If he gets to FA, all they can get out of it is a comp pick (4th rounder if they are over the lux tax again, thanks Bloom). What a waste... They have to trade him.
  3. Well, it won't be Sam Kennedy since he's a partner in FSG.
  4. Showing/Hoarding/Distributing
  5. Not enough AAV for 5 years. He was 200M++.
  6. They are all operating in the black. That's not even up for debate. None of these teams are losing money. The Braves have public financials and reported $400M solely in baseball revenue through Q3.
  7. Honestly, they aren't signing any of the guys you mentioned.
  8. Again, are posters not allowed to agree with other posters???
  9. Option 1: Same as 2022. Do nothing. "We're going to compete." He ends up hitting FA. Option 2: Extend prior to the season. Seems unlikely since they haven't shown the willingness under Bloom to do a monster deal. Option 3: Trade Raffy. Reminiscent of the Betts deal, but hopefully the players that come back provide better value. In order of likelihood: 1>3>2
  10. Exactly. There are more players with LOOOONG contracts taking up a higher % of the payroll across the league.
  11. The only way to make the fans stand for it is to win games. Fans are going to be frustrated unless that happens.
  12. At best he'd be a midseason call-up. He'd have to show a lot more patience at the plate though. It's apparently something they are working on and something that he realizes is an issue and wants to fix.
  13. There plan is to just find value plays wherever they can the way Henry made his money back in the day. Right now in MLB, that doesn't mean let your guys walk off into FA and keep your fingers crossed that you'll find good players leftover when everyone else has finished their feeding frenzy. They need to spend big money on the right guys. I think the Mookie LA deal is a fair deal. I think Xander should have been given more money last go around so that the opt outs didn't exist OR he should have been extended prior to last season. I think Raffy should be extended prior to Spring Training or should be traded. Figure out which players are worth keeping around long term and extend them before they hit their ARB years. Keep extending them before they hit FA.
  14. The length of contracts this offseason is surprising to say the least. I wonder what things will look like 5 years from now when a lot of these guys start breaking down and clogging up space.
  15. I wasn't all in on Nimmo either. Figured he'd be back with the Mets no matter what.
  16. I think we've seen that Verdugo isn't going to reach the upside we projected. Yoshida probably is just replacing Verdugo in LF. I'd still keep Kiké in CF, get someone to platoon with Refsnyder in RF and sign a cheaper short term SS. If Mayer is the REAL DEAL, just wait for him to show up in 2024.
  17. Yup.
  18. I think Yoshida's contract is less risky than Rusney's.
  19. No, if Yoshida has a monster season and the Sox go 80-82, Bloom is still let go.
  20. Are scouts good at judging market value or player talent? I think it's two different issues at hand. Will his bat play or is his contract worth it. I'm not sure a scouting guy is the best source of what players should be paid.
  21. No, he's just the reincarnation of Ben Cherington.
  22. I don’t remember this lore.
