I don't look forward to analyzing Bogey's deal for 11 more years. It's done. It's over. Sox could have signed him for cheaper.

Spring training has always seemed like the most logical time for a potential deal and it’s clear locking up Devers is a top priority for the Red Sox both before and during camp. Devers almost certainly will not negotiate during the season so Opening Day is something of a deadline.

I think he was worth 300 last year, he's probably worth 350 now on the open market at best. He didn't exactly light the world on fire last year and his defense was still -6 DRS. Sox need to show him 300 and see if he'll sign.

It's the risk the Sox take by going year to year. You let the market determine the player's value. A sudden market swing can change your plans unexpectedly.

Bogey's contract is an overpay. I can see why the Sox would pass. Sox should back up a Brinks truck for Raffy. Two different scenarios IMO.

Arroyo is 6'1" Bloom is about the same or maybe an inch or two taller from what I've seen online.

@PeteAbe Sox still have Christian Arroyo, Ryan Brasier, Reese McGuire, Nick Pivetta, Josh Taylor, and Alex Verdugo as unsigned arb-eligible players. Only Pivetta and Verdugo are projected over $2.3M. The sides exchange figures on Jan. 13 if no deal is made.

1. 2020 Draft: B, could have drafted Pete Crow-Armstrong in the 1st round. 2. 2021 Draft: A-, Mayer is a franchise player, ERC, Hickey and Kavadas are intriguing. 3. 2022 Draft: B+, Romero, Anthony, Meidroth, Brannon all performed well in the fall, but too early to tell. Could wind up being his best draft though. 4. Rule 5: B-, Whitlock was a great get, but developed mostly in Sox system with Andriese and the loss of TWard is undetermined, but odd because he at least had some trade value since he was taken first overall. 5. IFA: B+, Bleis could be a franchise player, but it's really too early to tell as these guys are really young. Hardest group to judge. 6. Trades: D+, amassed a lot of talent, but nobody has broken through the ceiling yet. Had a lot of tradeable assets.

@ChrisCotillo Shows they agreed on his value for 2023. Might mean more. Might not. Guess here is they’ll make a real (big dollar) effort on an extension before Opening Day. This is what a UNC - Chapel Hill degree can give you.
