  1. Rangers also signed Andrew Heaney. Their rotation is stacked with question marks. DeGrom Eovaldi Perez Heaney Gray Odorizzi (swingman) Yikes. That's a rotation that FA can buy you.
  2. JBJ and Beni are in a tier below.
  3. He'd platoon with Rojas and Story? It's not my idea. It's something I've heard that the Sox FO have been looking for. They are looking for LHB MIFers apparently. Wendle would be an upgrade over Arroyo regardless and has played the OF before and was ok out there.
  4. IDK, I think I may becoming Matt Lugo-pilled. Send them Brandon Walter instead who has the same value.
  5. Fine by me. I'd do that trade and wouldn't mind. His skillset is similar to a former Sox SS that was also a placeholder and came from the Marlins. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/alex-gonzalez/520/stats?position=SS Time is a flat circle and yadda yadda yadda...
  6. Sox should have locked up two of Betts, Bogaerts and Devers. They didn't. Now they probably will all be out the door. It's pretty sad and dumb. Ownership and front office is at fault here for sure. It's an embarrassment.
  7. Not with what the contracts were this year.
  8. They are SHORT TERM contracts to get us to the next generation of Red Sox players. If they gave Jansen a 5 year deal, it would be a problem. There is no issue year. The plan is to not tie the team down financially long term and begin to offer extensions to their younger players and obtain other young players via trades for players from their solid farm system. At least I hope that's the plan.
  9. The last time they finished better than 3rd place was 2016. Only 3 seasons above .500 in the past 10 years. I'm sure Rangers fans will take whatever they can get at this point. I'm sure if they read this board they'd roll their eyes.
  10. I thought for sure someone was going to follow up with "Combined?"
  11. My preference is also Andrus. Per BTV: Murphy Duran Wendle Rojas Sox then DFA Arroyo. Wendle is the backup 2B/SS/3B and provides the LHB the Sox have been looking for to platoon in the IF (career 106 wRC+ vs RHP).
  12. At least they grabbed pitchers that are certain to get 32 starts this season.
  13. He has been spending money, just not at the positions we had anticipated: SS/RF/SP (until Kluber). He did grab some high end relievers which we all saw as a need.
  14. Rojas and Duran have the same value on BTV.
  15. They made it work down the stretch. Why wouldn't it work in 2022?
  16. Sox would still have to find a RFer then.
  17. And they don't like that he'll ONLY take batting practice in the indoors cage.
  18. How money wise?
  19. They were a 4th place team though and already showed a deep commitment to big contracts with Semien and Seager.
  20. They should have been if they wanted to. Sign Xander. Sign Verlander. Fill up the pen. Potentially still sign Yoshida. Short term deals aren't a big issue as you can reset in the near term.
  21. There is enough going around about the team's unhappiness regarding Verdugo. I think they should move on from him.
  22. Unless you are the 2022 Red Sox.
  23. The future has yet to be written.
  24. Would have to be done by trade. Rodon is younger, but I have my doubts about that contract for sure.
  25. They still may? He only signed for 1/7 last season. Kluber signed 1/8 last season. The only news I've seen on Wacha was that the Orioles were interested. If not many teams are in on him, it couldn't hurt to reach out even if the Sox only see him as a backend guy. Speculation is that Wacha is waiting on multiple years, while Kluber was willing to sign for one.
