  1. I think Stark was just saying that he's never seen a runner get hit with a broken bat and helped off the field like that. One in a million shot.
  2. To put him on the 26 man roster? The only way the Sox get him back is if he's put through waivers and every other team has the chance to Rule 5 "pick" him again.
  3. Considering the FA prices, he's a steal even if he's a solid late inning guy.
  4. I'm not sure Henry is making a bad business decision. His decision is based purely on business and the bottom line. I think he'd rather have a more Operating Net Income from year to year than worry about truly winning another championship. The shill you speak of would be the corporate mouthpiece Sam Kennedy.
  5. They were willing to eat 1/2 of Price's contract. He was coming off a 2 fWAR season in 2019. At that point, he's theoretically worth $16M to a team. If you are willing to pay half of his salary, he is clearly worth something in return, even if it's just for some lower end prospects.
  6. Depends which of their arms stays healthy.
  7. I don't think Bloom came here with the determination to trade Betts immediately. That came from someone at the tippy top. A guy who complains that baseball players are expensive and believes Steve Cohen is bad for the game.
  8. Bello has the higher ceiling than Mata now.
  9. @jaysonst I’ve never seen this. Luis Ravelo of the Red Sox was hit by a broken bat while running to 3rd base in the 9th. His knee was examined by a doctor afterward. But Alex Cora reports it appears to be just a bruise. And “he was more stunned than anything.” Ravelo was initially helped off the field.
  10. John Schreiber for Alex Ramirez Trade accepted This appears to be a fair trade proposal for each team. Now post it to our Trade Board to see what other users think of it. https://www.milb.com/player/alex-ramirez-691267
  11. What in the wide, wide world of sports is a-goin' on here?
  12. Goodrum has been so bad that he's maybe not even likely to get AAA playing time. Sad!
  13. Career fWAR: Sale 45.4 Kluber 39.1 WS Rings: Sale 1 Kluber 0 Jerseys Torn: Sale 1 Kluber 0 Leader in W, SV, K: Sale The only thing that Kluber is better is in wearing high socks.
  14. @PeteAbe It’s only spring training, all the usual disclaimers apply. But Chris Sale is as ebullient about baseball as he been for a long time. Even a five-inning sim game in an empty ballpark had him smiling. Shouldn't he be mad about not being the Opening Day Starter and just being a benchwarmer!?!?! I guess he's not a true competitor anymore! We can just call him Mr Happy To Be There.
  15. The only other team to charge their players for WiFi: the Cincinnati Reds. Good company to have.
  16. Seriously. Maybe they should give the Rangers a call since Sandy Leon CERTIFIED CERA GOD has a 872 OPS this spring.
  17. Originally, I thought he was going to piggyback with Paxton. Maybe they'll just piggyback him with Houck or Crawford? IDK. I think the long term goal is to get him to start once he's ready.
  18. Whitlock - Mills sent down Bello - Kelly sent down Paxton - Crawford sent down
  19. 1 Kluber 2 Sale 3 Pivetta 4 Houck 5 Crawford 6 Jansen 7 Martin 8 Schreiber 9 Rodriguez 10 Bleier 11 Kelly 12 Brasier 13 Mills
  20. Coward. Give it a shot.
  21. Alfaro will be back in ST soon. Colombia just lost in the WBC and they were relegated for the next WBC tournament because they came in last in Pool C.
  22. What a horrible way to live!
  23. With a metric f***-ton of expiring contracts after October. Sometimes you don't hold out hope and just punt for the betterment of the team.
  24. @jcmccaffrey The season starts two weeks from today and it’s crunch time for non-roster invitees. Rob Refsnyder and John Schreiber were NRIs last spring and made the most of their opportunities. Raimel Tapia - with a 1.244 OPS - is trying to do the same this spring. “We talk about disruptors and guys that can make an impact on the bases and going first-to-third, dirtball reads, great reads out of the box. He plays with his hair on fire.” Tapia’s aggressiveness on the bases is another element the Red Sox like
  25. LOL. I just Lou Gorman'd myself. I get the Reese's candy bar. If you read it, there's an apostrophe. The candy bar is his. I didn't know that. Next time your eating a Reese's and some guy named Reese comes up to you and says let me have that. You better give it to him. I'm sorry Reese, I didn't think I would ever run into you.
