  1. Mateo - 2 SB (35 in 2022) Mullins - 2 SB (34 in 2022) Frazier - 1 SB (11 in 2022) The most amount of SB's a Red Sox player had in 2022 was 13. Seems to be a roster construction issue? The Orioles have guys that can run. The Red Sox do not. The Red Sox did a s*** job of holding runners on though, especially Brasier.
  2. Says a lot about the "laugh" that was reported that came from DD at the time of the Rule 5 pick... Maybe it was a little sinister...
  3. Phillies can also retain him for the following season to reach the active roster limit before sending him down. He doesn't necessarily have to be returned if he is only on the roster for 80 days this year.
  4. Are you arguing that no team has ever made a bad trade before?
  5. I'm just not sure what the path is to getting Song to pitch in the near future. Lots of IL stints and MiLB rehab time? If I'm Bloom, I'd have a grievance ready to be filed.
  6. The pitching was bad. I liked the fight the offense put up. The Sox weren't going to go 162-0.
  7. Kelly should be the last man in the bullpen. Due to the injuries at the start of the season, he's going to play a larger role the first few weeks.
  8. Brasier and Ort were early projections for most DFA lists. Maybe they were right?
  9. The defense was whatever, it was really just the overwhelming amount of walks that did them in. After an offseason of Bloom going out of his way to limit walks, that was just embarrassing.
  10. Yes, he must be active for 90 days.
  11. Did the sound die for everyone else or just MLb.tv?
  12. Yes. Only Wednesday was a problem.
  13. No k zone today on NESN?
  14. But then you don't get the local nuance of hearing guys like Frank from Gloucester, Butch from the Cape, etc.
  15. That's not what he said.
  16. I think players were more hurt by what Eck would say during games than what reporters would say or write. See: Price, JBJ.
  17. He writes for an audience, but it isn't for me.
  18. Barnes 2023: 6.1 Innings, 7 BB, 7 K, 2.05 WHIP and a ST career high of 126 pitches (hadn't thrown even half that since 2018 ST). He must have been absolutely laboring through every outing.
  19. Marlins manager Skip Schumaker mentioned Tanner Scott, Dylan Floro and A.J. Puk as being "in the mix" for saves early on. Floro and Matt Barnes were the apparent favorites going into the spring, but Floro struggled early before rebounding of late and Barnes hasn't impressed at all. No kidding? What a surprise! It seemed like a great idea to me that the Marlins were trying to hand over the closing role directly to Barnes.
  20. For now? They can always make a change tonight if they need to.
  21. Currently, the media is just down on the Red Sox. They'd rather cover the other 3 teams anyway. Guys like Shaughnessy and Pete Abraham still have their jobs to do, but I'm not sure they have the negative influence that existed 20 years ago.
  22. I've heard him speak English. He wrote his introduction entirely in English. He doesn't speak it fluently, but I've heard he is actively working on it.
  23. You are the reason we are having this conversation. Initially, you showed concern that Yoshida may not be able to handle playing here. But now there is no pressure cooker? I don't get it.
  24. What's the spotlight this year? A lot of sportswriters were already writing this team off and saying that nobody cares anymore. If that's truly the case, shouldn't it be easier on these guys this year?
