  1. Sensible stance. I agree.
  2. There are some things that the guys that have boners for Crawford refuse to understand, and that is that with the way the 3-4-5 hitters are hitting, the 6th spot in the lineup maximizes his assets while hiding away the holes in his game. He doesn't have the OBP to hit 1st, Pedey is a better 2 hitter than him, and no way you move any of the 3-4-5 for him, because they are clearly superior hitters than him, however, in the 6th spot, you can utilize his above average power, and he can run as much as he wants with weaker hitters behind him. The "clogging the basepaths" argument is ********. With the power the hitters in front of him have, if he hits with men on base, they'll usually be in scoring position.
  3. Bro, seriously.....give it a rest.
  4. JD Drew continues to be the litmus test for Red Sox fans anywhere. Those who understand statistical analysis and the importance of a good at-bat, OBP and defense understand Drew's contributions to the club, even with his power diminishing, and those who don't spout nonsense similar to the above. Drew is one of the most patient hitters in all of baseball and a better hitter (not a better athlete) than Crawford. There is a difference.
  5. Haters gonna hate.
  6. Do it. Baseball reference.com
  7. No he doesn't. Look above.
  8. Here you go, fine sir, a three-year outlook of the AL vs Crawford LHB vs LHP split comparison: 2008: Crawford: .641 OPS AL: .718 OPS 2009: Crawford: .704 OPS AL: .729 OPS 2010: Crawford: .696 OPS AL: .714 OPS 2011: (So far) Crawford: .354 OPS AL: .664 OPS He had three decent seasons against LHP (05, 06 07)and peaked in 2007 with his .381 BABIP, but afterwards has had three seasons of horrible and below-average production against lefties, and he's running that same trail in 2011. The numbers don't lie.
  9. You were just educated bro. I also had no idea that Minnesota (30th in MLB in runs scored) Oakland (26th) and Baltimore (22nd) were a trio of really damn good offensive teams. I was humbled by how little i know about baseball as well.
  10. I'll give you KC, who's eighth in runs scored, but Minessota, Baltimore and Oakland are 30th, 26th and 22nd in the Majors respectively. In other words, a so-so team, and three bags of suck. Please. http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable_team_stats.jsp?tcid=mm_mlb_stats&statType=1&Submit=Submit&timeFrame=1&baseballScope=mlb&groupByTeam=true&timeSubFrame=2011&sortByStat=R
  11. Then let's use a Hardball times article which details the difference in OBP, SLG and OPS between LHH vs RHP and LHP from 2000 to 2006: Left Vs Right: .275/ .356/ .452 .808 OPS Left Vs Left: .253/ .328/ .396 .724 OPS Difference: .022 BA/ .028 OBP/ .056 SLG% .084 OPS And compare it to Crawford's career splits: Left Vs Right: .306/ .345/ .466 .811 OPS Left Vs Left: ..264/ .310/ .374 .684 OPS Difference: .42 BA/ .35 OBP/ .92 SLG% .127 OPS So when using a significant sample size of the average left handed hitter in baseball's platoon splits and comparing them to Crawford, he comes out being noticeably worst than the average platoon split in MLB. What now? Oh, link to the article: http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/the-advantage-of-batting-left-handed/
  12. A) He does have platoon issues, no other way to slice it. When you produce below replacement level against lefties and at an All-Star level against righties, then you have a platoon problem. You're the one who mentioned Gonzales by the way. B ) If Crawford's value comes mostly from "speed" as you have denoted, of what use is this "speed" when he can't get on base against lefties (.310 career OBP against them). He simply doesn't produce against lefties.
  13. Crawford sucks. Lowrie sucks. Drew is God.
  14. Before this year, his career OPS was .696, and he had an .837 OPS in 2007, .641 OPS in 2008, .704 OPS in 2009, .696 in 2010, the trend is "he sucks against lefties", with the only significant difference between his career worst in OPS against lefties coming from BABIP variance. The outlier is the 2007 season, in which he actually hit against them, but featured a .381 BABIP. There are no straws to grasp from, he is awful against LHP.
  15. Wasn't it said last night that if suns brought his s*** to today's thread he'd get banned?
  16. Crawford career OPS vs lefties: .684 Rey Ordonez career OPS: .600. Nope. Specially with the way he's trending. I'd love to get him a couple sessions with Teddy Long. If he fixed Granderson, he could fix Crawford, but in the meantime, he is, (and he always has been) s*** against lefties.
