    I'll agree with you on the fact that he's not nearly a finished product, and is a huge project. Now.....neither he nor Bowden are proven commodities at the ML level, and with the current state of catching in the league, if you get a chance to acquire a catcher with upside, you take it, because he might wind up a 1st baseman, yes, but he may also develop into a superstar. Isn't that the beauty of baseball? You gotta take your chances......

    By all means no, sir. But please refer to my earlier statement of the rumors that link the A's to Jason Giambi and Rafael Furcal. IF they were to acquire those three players, i think they'd have a shot to go for it.

    Enlighten me as to how a .727 OPS in that shoe box of a ballpark is a decent year? Unless you can make a solid argument on his defense and game-calling, i'm not buying.

In other notes, whoever says they'd rather have Gerald Laird over Salty needs to stop, think, organize his ideas, and then come to the sudden realization that Laird SUCKS and is not an adequate starting catcher. And while Salty may end up being a bust, he sure as hell has more upside than Laird, By.A.Landslide.

    A la Jason Varitek? And since when did you become a scout/talent evaluator? Like there're no late bloomers in baseball AT ALL. Besides, it's not like anyone says he'd be a long-term solution for the Sox at the C position. You gotta stop talking outta your ass, mister.
