The real problem with this team was more around how cohesive was the roster, not necessarily the talent level. They have hit for stretches, pitched for stretches, but haven't defended at all. Anyone but Kluber in the rotation and Hernandez at SS, and we're probably looking at being the 2nd WC right now.

People don't like when I say this, but beating good teams while losing to bad teams is something that crappy teams tend to do. But the Red Sox are just such an oddity. At full strength (a near impossibility) it sure feels like they could make some noise in the standings and the playoffs, but this roster is weirdly constructed, and its pitching is too frail.

I would trade Duvall, Paxton, Jansem, Martin and Turner.

I'll say it again. Unpopular opinion: They should blow this roster up and build for next season and beyond. I love the foundation they've built and they'll have money to burn this offseason.
