  1. Wanted to remind people he's the Ace of the Astros.
  2. I'm not surprised, nor disappointed. Unless they got a young pitcher with team control for a couple of years, I was not excited about any on the rentals on the market, including the aging Verlander and Scherzer (who were not coming here anyway), any of the Cardinals pitchers, or Aaron Civale for one reason or the other. I would have liked at least a reliever to help bridge the IP gap for August though.
  3. You know what you're talking about friend.
  4. Red Sox Blooming
  5. This pitching staff is not equipped to handle that stretch.
  6. Glass houses fine sir.
  7. You can all come to the Dominican.
  8. Thanks for your amazing contributions to the baseball discussion.
  9. Sure, I'll be here all day.
  10. I do, since a large part of their development was spent in Boston's farm system.
  11. We all know this, and it's a sound draft strategy. You don't have to annoyingly repeat it every chance you get. Spouting an incorrect notions a thousand times won't make it right.
  12. Do you mean giving birth to a postseason or giving birth during the postseason?
  13. Sounds unnecessarily patchwork to me.
  14. Since when was Kike the plan to start the season as the everyday SS? They had Story penciled in, he got injured, they got Chang as a backup, and he also got injured, as you say. At least stick to the facts.
  15. Both Eovaldi and Wacha on the IL. Why who thought such a thing would be possible with those two paragons of health!
  16. The second half of next year could have pretty much half the roster consisting of homegrown guys. I'm excited for that.
  17. The problem is that you seem to think that roster management and team morale aren't a thing, and they are. This team both had a roster crunch, weren't going to rush any of their prospects, and Kike was well liked by both players and manager. They were going to give him every chance to show he could produce. It's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Was Cora right? No. Was he entirely to blame? Tell me if you expected Story and Chang to both be injured at the same time and then answer that question.
  18. Remember he did not only play him at SS, and that is where his defensive value was really in the negatives.
  19. They already proved your wrong by providing neither innings nor run prevention during the first half, and they are coming back from injury, not a vacation in Hawaii.
  20. No such thing as a coincidence.
  21. What options did he have during most of Kike's run?
  22. Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez
  23. Cora likes to give players a chance to break out of their slumps, sometimes it works (Casas), sometimes it doesn't (Kike), but some slack must be cut considering his lack of options for a while there.
  24. Houck and Whitlock had been pretty bad either way. As Max says, this tram needs to improve its pitching depth if it is to survive August. They don't have to trade for top tier pitching, but they need more innings than what the current group will be able to provide.
