I disagree. Granderson is absolutely horrible against LHP. .183/ .245/ .239 .484 OPS. Expect that weakness to be further exploited.

I don't think he'll "remain loyal" i think the Mariners have the money and the upper hand to sign him. It's common sense.

The whole point is that if they're not trying to capitalize on his enormous trade value is because they feel they have a legitimate shot at signing him. And again, why wouldn't they?

Question: Why are they flimsy? Is there not a precedent for hometown discounts during the last few years? Lester? Pedey? Wright? Reyes? Longoria? Many others could've gone year-to-year and waited to hit paydirt on the FA market, but didn't, due to the increased security of having a contract at hand, specially for a pitcher, whose career could crumble at any moment. Flimsy or absolutely logical? Your call.

What about everything else? He's terrible against lefty pitching, and has never been an OBP threat to begin with. He's not even worth Jackson IMO.

This is the context in which David Ortiz came to the conversation. This leads me to two questions: 1) What in heaven's name does your opinion that "he's a fraud" have to do with the topic which was being discussed? 2) What was the thought process that induced you to turn a perfectly good conversation into a dissertation of your thoughts on David Ortiz (which nobody cares about by the way)?
