  1. Yeah but if you have the possibility of holding onto one, i'm sure you would. You need to take into context the fact that there's a reason why those two prospects are so coveted. It stops being hype when you're negotiating with someone who used to work for your organization. Hoyer's amount of interest in those two tells me they're pretty special kids.
  2. Contrary to what Rhet may tell you, Bay has been extremely limited in the field since his knee surgery in '07, the Sox FO fears that since he has gotten progressively worse playing the field (even while playing half his games at Fenway), his skills will erode to the point where he will not be able to take the field on a consistent basis through the duration of a 5-year contract, and i agree with them.
  3. You may consider it so, but my eyes and the stats tell me otherwise. He hasn't been the same after his knee surgery. You choose to believe that his health is not an issue, but that's your problem, not mine. I say he's a full-time DH by 2012.
  4. Westmoreland. I love his potential, but Kelly's ability as a pitcher is legit, and it's easier to acquire a good OF than a #3 pitcher (and IMO, that may be selling low on Kelly based on potential.)
  5. I believe his health to be a legitimate concern. Also, Cameron is still playing Cf at a high level, Bay can barely play defense now.
  6. I'm operating under the assumption the Sox trade for an elite 1B bat, (Gonzo, Cabrera), otherwise, check out the 2007 UZR for the CF and RF positions. Having a good defender in CF is very important.
  7. As stated, i'm operating under the assumption they trade Kelly. As for the Exposito thing,Westmoreland is twenty times the prospect Exposito is, you're dealing with Jed Hoyer, he knows the farm system better than anyone sans Theo, don't expect to be able to fleece the guy.
  8. I agree with you on this. Bucholz would be the number 5 pitcher, Gonzalez would be the number 4 hitter, and with more than 50 million coming off the books next year, retaining Beckett and V-Mart should not be an issue. As stated above, the Sox have the money to retain Beckett, and they will, meanwhile, trading Buch for Gonzales and adding a league average number five arguably makes the Sox the best team in the Major Leagues. Bucholz is good, but not elite, and the Sox have the possibility of signing Chapman, think about the short and long term benefits of securing an in-his-prime, elite-level first baseman.
  9. Gonzales is younger than Tex, and has seen year-to-year improvement while playing in the hellhole at Petco, and if you use OPS+ (which accounts for park factors), Gonzales' 166 OPS+ blows Tex's 149 out of the water.
  10. It's what they should do, if they don't, then their "attempt" at fixing the team's defense was not genuine.
  11. Actually, how about both CF and LF? If the Sox truly care about the OF defense "problem", they'll play Cameron in CF and Ellsbury in LF and sport the best OF defense in the game.
  12. Acquiring elite Major league talent whose production is guaranteed (A-Gon) and is young (26 so is Buch) is one of the reasons MLB teams have a farm system in the first place. You can pine against trading young players all you want, but to make the current club better, they'll need to trade some young talent, with A-Gon, this team is the Yankees' equal even if they sign Jason Bay.
  13. You keep thinking that "Father time" is going to hit Red Sox players but not Yankee players, you also fail to account for the advantage NYS hands out to some Yankee players, it's intellectually dishonest.
  14. Sox,Padres can't agree on Gonzales.
  15. You took it completely out of context.
  16. This is how UZR looks at it: SS = 9 2B = 7 3B = 5 CF = 4 LF = -7 1B = -7 RF = -10 As you can see, UZR applies a similar but more "refined" numerical value to positional impact. Here's the detailed explanation: UZR,multiple positions.
  17. Adrian Gonzales is going to be a Red Sox. I simply cannot contain myself, the need to pound my chest is too strong.
  18. I guess that since everyone has such a problem with me (and everyone who agrees with me apparently) that i should just leave the site. Come to think about it, that's exactly what i'm going to do. Peace.
  19. Ok, so we'll start disagreeing on everything from now on. Wow.
