  1. Updated stats: Papelbon: 3.64 ERA, 1.23 WHIP. Bard: 2.13 ERA, 0.86 WHIP. It is what it is.
  2. Randy Wells f***ed me over too.
  3. Papelbon: 2.76 ERA, 1.12 WHIP. Bard: 2.13 ERA, 0.9 WHIP. Not saying Bard should close right now, but they're clearly trending in opposite directions.
  4. Like someone here has said many times, the truth is that Papelbon is currently the second best reliever on this team.
  5. Ital, you're kicking my ass 7-2. Lol.
  6. Jason Giambi sighting!!!!!
  7. Rays pitchers regressing and them not keeping up a 120 win pace. Who'd have thought???? Oh wait....
  8. Funny. The only reason why a certain someone is still around is because, unlike Dutchy, they didn't give up after being banned multiple times. I also find the above post funny, from a guy who advocated Dutchy's banning, but protects Jacko like his daughter for doing exactly what Dutchy does with the annoyance multiplied by one thousand. bbdoc/The Riv/Jacko, wake me up after your fifth user.
  9. Not bad for a team that can't hit, cobbled together by an FO that only cares about money, and that wasn't supposed to be competitive until 2012.
  10. Having trouble connecting to the site indeed. Same for diony, who might be interested, but is having the same issues.
  11. What's up with the blatant baiting so early in the Game thread? Anyways, looks to be a quality matchup.
  12. You guys say it in a heat-of-the-moment sense, but the Yankees really do struggle against soft-tossers and junk-ballers. Per BB-Reference, the Yankees boast a .764 OPS against "Finesse" pitchers (as in, soft-tossers) which is more lower than their overall OPS, and OPS against average and power pitchers.
  13. It's the TalkSox defense lawyer!!! Oh wait, there are no defense teams.....
  14. Pena's struggles are flukey. The patience and power are still there, but he has an unsustainably low .219 BABIP. BJ Upton is having a similar season to last year in both statistics and peripherals. Zobrist's power binge i argued was a fluke last year, and it's seeming more and more i was right. He's a LD/GB hitter, so a 17% HR/FB was going to be hard to maintain. Lo and behold, the OBP and BA have stayed, but the power is basically gone. Keep in mind though, he has a .440 SLG% with a .357 BABIP, and if that normalizes, both the BA and SLG% could take a hit. John Jaso's provided more with the bat in this short time than all of their catchers last year combined, so that's a plus. Bartlett's been victimized by injuries, but Brignac has been useful.
  15. ^Doesn't show up. Try another one.
  16. If someone posted an "OWNED" picture right now, it would be very apropos. Too bad i can't do it.
  17. We can't be calm!!! We're scared shitless because of the impending doom of the Red Sox (with inflation)!!!!!
  18. Their bullpen has struggled just as much as their starting pitching, raising their collective ERA from around the 2.60 mark to 3.28 in less than a month.
  19. New table: Red Sox hot streak: "Your team is hot right now, but it won't last". Yankees hot streak: "This is the way they're supposed to be playing" Red Sox cold streak: "It was bound to happen, they were playing way over their heads" Yankees cold streak: "We're just going through (Insert excuse here) it'll sort itself out. Again, i speak for the rest of the board when i ask you to shut the f*** and stop making your s***** remarks about the Sox every chance you get.
  20. Team ERA up to 3.58, and as the pitching has slumped, so have they.
  21. On a side note: The Sox are first in Runs scored, first in SLG%, first in doubles, second in OBP, second in Home Runs, first in OPS. Not bad for a team that wasn't going to get on base very much or hit for much power./Jacko. The Sox are on pace to score 889 runs, which is more than 2009 by a comfortable margin. Looks like the "no holes in the lineup" strategy is working wonders, yet again contrary to Jacko's assesment. On the pitching front: The Sox team ERA is down to a respectable 4.22, with a 4.24 starters' ERA. Son what's the limit if this team gets completely healthy?
  22. Do you ever shut the f*** up? They also start every year winning a bunch of games early and they sucked in April. Stop talking like you know when the team will be hot/cold.
  23. Tied for the WC and one from first baby.
