  1. Honestly, who cares? Kevin McHale's tenure with the Timberwolves hasn't ruined his legacy.
  2. Watching MJ here in Chicago was an honor and a privilege. I wish I had been old enough to appreciate him in the 80's and early 90's. I witnessed greatness. Anyone who says he wasn't the greatest who ever played the game simply doesn't know what he's talking about.
  3. MJ getting inducted tomorrow. Interesting fact: Terry Francona was his manager when he played baseball in Birmingham.
  4. Jeter is easily in the Top 10 among position players.
  5. Wow, Hanley gets a base hit with the bases loaded and Nick Johnson inexplicably gets thrown out at second, so it goes down as a fielder's choice. It's been that kind of week.
  6. Ghey.
  7. That seems rather arbitrary. I would think your regular season record against your opponent would be a better way of doing it. I just checked the rules. The language isn't very specific. It says "lowest team ERA." That could mean lowest team ERA for the season or the matchup.
  8. What happens in the event of a tie?
  9. Feldman has given up just 1 run in his last 4 starts.
  10. It still boggles my mind that no player has ever reached 3,000 hits in such a storied and old franchise.
  11. What? They are horrible.
  12. Over the course of season most pitchers go into funks. Beckett will be fine. It's cyclical. Buehrle was struggling big time for awhile. He's turned it around. I don't think the Sox can afford to skip a start for Beckett. If they had a bigger lead in the WC, then it wouldn't be a terrible idea. As it is, though, it looks like it's going to be a tight race to the finish line. You need your horse down the stretch.
  13. Alexei is not a good SS. He has a strong arm and decent range, but he makes a ton of errors, doesn't charge the ball particularly well, and takes too long to get rid of the ball. Also makes a lot of poor, lazy throws in the dirt. Konerko has bailed him out a lot this year. I think eventually the White Sox will move him back to 2B, where he flourished. If Josh Fields had panned out at 3B, Alexei might be there right now and Beckham would be at SS.
  14. I shall be attending this game. In the upper deck.
  15. Wakefield is a f***ing gamer. Playing hurt takes a lot of guts.
  16. But the Giants have pitching. In spite of their offense, they could be dangerous in the postseason.
  17. I really don't see how throwing Joba out there for 3 innings is going to prepare him for the postseason... Cut the umbilical cord, already.
  18. Not necessarily. The Giants' offense isn't exactly world-beating.
  19. You don't have to throw gas to be effective in either league.
  20. I don't think Thome even wants to go back to the Guardians. The fans still boo him every time he plays in Cleveland.
  21. I would take Lackey over Harden. Harden has more upside, but Lackey pitches deeper into games and is a lot more durable.
