  1. It does mean something if you intend on playing the hot hand in the postseason.
  2. Call me a flip flopper, but I might go with Dice-K now. But I guess the decision has been made already.
  3. I hate how GMs are always recycled after they get canned.
  4. Troy is a five-Tulo player.
  5. That's fine, but they're not going to land Fielder without giving up Buchholz (the Brewers are desperate for pitching). So if they go that route, getting Lackey or Felix would become a necessity.
  6. Forget Harden and Bedard. Go after Lackey or Felix. Harden/Bedard could help out the rotation. Lackey/Felix will help out the rotation.
  7. Way to finish strong CC. I'm thinking this was just a fluky bad start, but I'm hoping it has something to do with fatigue.
  8. Not possible with Tek and VMart.
  9. Big start for Lester. We'll see if he's fully recovered from the comebacker.
  10. A wee bit confrontational, aren't we? One thing I'd like to make clear. I never said you can't be effective with little to no postseason experience. If that had been the case, I never would have nominated Buchholz to start Game 3. I think that most baseball insiders would agree with me. When it comes to pitching, I'll take experience over exuberance most of the time. A veteran generally won't get too caught up in the moment and won't be overwhelmed on the big stage. Here's a scenario. Two pitchers get hit hard to start a game. One is a rookie. The other is a veteran. Who is more likely to get rattled? Who is more likely to maintain his composure and gut it out? That's probably not the tangible example you were looking for, but I don't really care.
  11. Wow, a lot of enthusiasm in here. You don't sneak into the playoffs when you've won 91 games and counting.
  12. Experience is important in the playoffs, but Buchholz has mostly been good this year. He's had three hiccups. With Dice-K, you never really know what you're going to get, but you do know he probably won't give you 6 innings whereas Buchholz has pitched 6 or more innings in 9 of his 15 starts. It's not a slam dunk, but I'd start Buchholz.
  13. It's a pretty big knock. He's lucky he doesn't have Dusty's reputation of killing pitchers. I'd take Granderson over Ellsbury any day of the week.
  14. I love Ozzie's rants, even if I can only understand 1 out of every 3 words.
  15. We're all wrong. Eric Wedge is the best manager in the AL.
  16. It's entirely possible Buchholz will wind up being the better starter, as Joba hasn't demonstrated he can pitch a season without running on fumes. For the record, neither has Buchholz. But to say that Joba doesn't even have half of Buchholz's talent is ridiculously homer-ish. Joba has the stuff to be a dominant pitcher.
  17. Leyland is in my Top 5.
  18. My Top 3 in the AL: 1. Scioscia 2. Gardenhire 3. Tito
  19. I think I would start Lester in Game 1. Beckett is great when he's on, but Lester has been a lot more consistent than him.
  20. Another 200 hit season for Jeter.
  21. Greinke. And yes, yes he is.
  22. Congratulations Gom.
