  1. 3 years $55 million seems like a lot of money for Andrew McCutchen. I really like the guy, and I'm happy he's leaving the Yankees, but he's been on the decline
  2. I don't really have a problem with Boras. He's just trying to get his guys paid as much as possible, which gets him paid as much as possible. He must be doing a pretty good job if he keeps getting hired by players.
  3. I'm happy for Eovaldi getting paid. I was a big fan of trading for him and his playoff run was legendary. I didnt necessarily want 4 years, but whatever. Hopefully he pitches like he did last year.
  4. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/12/diamondbacks-trade-paul-goldschmidt-cardinals.html Wow, talk about a blockbuster. Things are finally starting to get rolling.
  5. That could be a pretty damn good rotation.
  6. I personally always think the "he's a hall of famer, but shouldn't be first ballot" argument is extremely stupid. How does a few years of waiting make him more worthy than before? Halladay is a Hall of Famer (at least IMO).
  7. Calling Moncada a bust is foolish. He's 23 and coming off a 1.7 WAR and 2.0 WAR seasons at ages 21 and 22 respectively. Not everyone comes into the league and is Mike Trout right away. Moncada is still a very talented player. Obviously I'm thrilled with Sale and he helped us win a world series, so that trade is always a win in my book, but Moncada is going to be very special.
  8. It without a doubt needs to be increased, but the problem is the players really don't want it to happen, especially if they aren't getting paid while the colleges rack in millions. There has been way too many injuries in bowl games that have cost or nearly cost players career. Marcus Lattimore was considered to be a generational RB, college injuries ruined his career. Jaylon Smith suffered a horrific leg injury vs Ohio State a few years ago and went from top 10 pick to 2nd round pick, and just this year finally has gotten back to where he nearly was. Even this year, Nick Bosa, projected top 5 pick, was hurt early in the season, he told OSU he wasn't going to play the rest of the season to preserve himself for the NFL. Star Corner for LSU Greedy Williams is considering sitting out the bowl game as well, he just declared for the draft.
  9. Trading Mookie would be one of the few moves this team could make that would legitimately piss me off. Also, I can't believe we have ANOTHER trade JBJ thread.
  10. I actually have the fenway dirt too, it is pretty cool. IIRC for anyone who wants some, if you go to the Red Sox website and go to the contact me page and basically send an email saying "Hey I am a big Red Sox fan, and my favorite player is ___" and ask for a "fan pack", they'll send you a little package in the mail with some random Red Sox stuff. I did it a few years ago and received some dirt from Fenway, an autographed picture of Eric Hinske (lol I don't know why him) and some other random things such a pocket schedule, Red Sox pen, and etc.
  11. I keep seeing all these "talking head" trying to say Ohio State should be in over Notre Dame. If that happens I'm done with College football. Notre Dame beat Northwestern and Michigan (without Ian Book and Dexter Williams Ill add) just like Ohio State, and Notre Dame doesn't have a 30 point loss to f***ing Purdue on their resume.
  12. Unless the Red Sox are trading guys currently in the MLB (Devers, E-Rod, etc) there is no way they can acquire him. They have an incredibly weak farms system, especially compared to say the Yankees.
  13. I have: Red Sox hoodie David Price player shirt Pedro Martinez player shirt Mookie Betts player shirt Dustin Pedroia player shirt David Ortiz player shirt Hanley Ramirez player shirt Red Sox beanie 2007 WS Champs Hat 2004 WS Champs hat 2013 WS Champs hat 2018 WS Champs hat 5 or so random Red Sox hats of different designs, I wear the s*** out of them at the gym and playing ball/hanging out during the summer 10 or so random t-shirts ("Red Sox Baseball, etc"). And I used to collect memorabilia when I was in Middle/HS and used to send cards/write letters to pro athletes in hopes of some autographs or responses back, so I have tons of baseball cards/autographs and etc. autographs include many former Sox players. For example, David Ortiz, Bill Mueller, Yaz, Jason Bay, Mike Cameron (He was actually one of the cooler athletes I ever wrote too, he responded back numerous times and gave me a lot of advice and as a HS kid playing HS baseball this was awesome, and I was thrilled when Sox signed him despite his lack of success here).
  14. They could probably deal Diaz for some better prospects if they wanted too. He's an elite closer, 24 and has 4 years of control remaining.
  15. Yeah I can't see anyway Sox could afford the prospects required for Diaz. I'd probably rather pay Kimbrel than give up prospects for Diaz anyway.
  16. Hey, at least its not like the Basketball Hall of Fame where they kind of just throw everybody in.
  17. I don't think some people realize how hard it is to even make the MLB after going undrafted in baseball. That's almost unheard of, especially more recently with how good scouting is.
  18. People also seem to forget he is the guy who go the hit to drive in Roberts. Roberts gets all the glory, but if Mueller doesn't single off Mariano Rivera there, that stolen base is for nothing. Mueller is one of my all time favorites. He also seemed like a very cool dude. after the 2004 world Series, I was very young at the time and wrote him some letters in the mail, he responded back to all of them and even autographed some cards for me.
  19. I kind of want to say JD Drew. I see a lot of comments on Red Sox forums acting like he was awful besides a grand slam in the playoffs. He actually had a very good career here, he was just hated from day 1 and I will never understand why. Hideki Okajima I often feel goes under appreciated, and maybe not for his career, but during 2013, Craig Breslow was fantastic
  20. Xander and Mookie are the two guys I'm most okay overpaying. Obviously Mookie is #1, and whatever takes do it, I wouldn't be able to watch Mookie in another uniform.
  21. I hope Oklahoma makes the playoffs as #4 as I hate OSU and especially Urban Meyer. Plus, Kyler Murray and Antonio Browns cousin are outstanding players and fun to watch.
  22. The Ankiel story is a great one, and I'm a fan of him and his comeback as well, but him being on HOF ballot is a joke lol.He didn't even get 500 hits or 80 homers for his career, and his pitching stats obviously aren't very impressive and we all know that story. I don't even remotely understand this one And Darren Oliver lol... I can't think of anything noteworthy about him besides the fact he played a ridiculously long time and was always surprised to see him on another team every year... his career reminds me of Fernando Rodney to some extent, but at least Rodney has some historic seasons under his belt and was considered a good closer for at least some of the teams he played for.
  23. Yup. Its a joke. Its similar to the NFL hall of fame where they had a clear vendetta against T.O, and despite him having arguably the best stats of all time for a WR not named Jerry Rice, he had to wait two years just become some voters can't get over themselves.
  24. Kevin Youkilis, Rick Ankiel and Jason Bay are eligible for the Hall of Fame? Ummm... Alright lol. Good luck to them.
  25. He might of been the worst talent wise, but biggest bust on that list probably Craig Hansen. I remember him being the "closer of the future" and the position being set for the next 10-15 years, etc, etc, and he was absolutely horrendous.
