Moreland had a hot two weeks, he's been horrible since then. Pearce has been one of worst position players in the MLB since being activated. 1B/2B are literally negatives for this team and we all know our catchers are weak hitters. Devers hasn't been bad, but not great either, and his errors, both mentally and physically have been hurting the team.
Kimmi's point about JBJ isn't that he isn't struggling, but that he is expected to be one of the weak hitters, he hits 8th in the lineup for a reason. He's in the lineup for his elite defense, and what he adds offensively is gravy. However, this year, with the whole team besides about 4 guys looking awful at the plate, it is making JBJ look even worse.
I get the frustrations with JBJ, I really do, but releasing him/giving him away while his value is this low does nothing to help the team. Who do you want to start over JBJ? We don't have many assets to trade for another OF, don't have many options on the current roster or in the minors that are ready.
