  1. Santana says he will waive no trade clause for only Yankees and Red Sox.
  2. Sucks - he is the only guy I feared last year in the Yankee rotation. On the otherhand - Hank might just stick to his stupid deadline now that don't really need Santana that much.
  3. Countdown to Hank Steinberner deadline - almost 14.5 hours to go. Once the clock expires - he will just hit the snooze button.
  4. Yankees set deadline for Twins trade - they must respond by Monday. In case anyone is not sick of Santana news: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/12/02/santana.talks/index.html Edit - We obviously are quite aware of how Yankees do stick to their words in view of A-Rod saga.
  5. I am not sure why no arbitration to Molina or Villone - thought they did pretty well in their roles. Perhaps out Yankee friends can shed some lights?
  6. Wake me up when something happens - this soap opera is worse than A-Rod's.
  7. I have no clue who this guy is
  8. I know it is hard to believe - but there are other news apart from Santana.
  9. The Santana circus continues:
  10. Yankee Boards are saying that Gammons said on radio that Sox is now willing to give Ellsbury for Santana. Sorry no links and not sure how credible the news is. One reason Sox could do that is because looks like Ellsbury needs to be a part of Haren trade also. If that is the case might as well get Santana for him. It will be nice if this makes the Yankees give up Hughes and Kennedy both.
  11. I will take Loretta over Alexis Cora any day. That said - I do not want him to be an everyday player.
  12. I do not think that there is any dispute that Ellsbury is far far better than Coco when you combine offense + defense ( or is there?). I think last year we had a down year offense-wise ( compared to what we did between 2003-2005). Yeah - we did win the world series - but we need some offensive upgrade. Taking Ellsbury out will be actually a downgrade. Can you tell me for sure that Drew/Lugo will not suck, Papi will be healthy all year and Manny will not be Manny next year? You guarantee me that - and I can live with Coco's defense and consider we have a 8 man line-up not 9. Heck - in the end Coco could not even bunt the ball.
  13. Nicely put - exactly my thoughts but I am horrible with statistics.
  14. Per SNY - it is pathetic how much Miledge's trade value has dropped or Minaya must really hate him. Apparently he will not be part of a Santana trade.
  15. I guess I beg to disagree based on how horrible he has been in terms of offense. Put Crisp in place of Ellsbury and we do not win the Cleveland series in the post season. Crisp is nothing but an automatic out. Heck - I will take Lugo's bat over Coco.
  16. Kenny Rogers staying with the tigers. I have a feeling Boras will not get too many Christmas cards this year. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3135081
  17. Very interesting debate on the Yankee site - would they trade Kennedy and Hughes for Santana or watch Santana go to the Red Sox by not budging to Minny trade demands? Believe it or not - second option is winning almost by 3 to 1 now. After all - George Steinberner does not have that much influence on the Yankee fans. If it is upto George - he will give Minny the whole farm and more for Santana.
  18. Haren could be interesting - because he is cost controlled. Quality wise I will take Santana over those two. I am not sure who has the best return on investment in terms of prospect cost and salary.
  19. I guess I am going to debate with you like you generally do - that is what alternative you have? If Ellsbury is traded - who you want in the center field? Coco or Jones or someone else?
  20. In todays Fannation - looks like Beddard and Haren is available now. So if the twins are holding out - that may not be a bad thing for Sox as the price for Santana may go down. http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/mlb
  21. Beacuse Bor-ass had so much issues this off-season ( apart from A-Rod Kenny Rogers dumped him) - he may be OK with a try and buy deal for Jones. I do believe Jones is better than his last season numbers and we can buy him low. Only reason I will even consider that is if we trade Ellsbury - and hunter has already signed. Edit - I will love to see a JB analysis of if it is worth signing Jones to a reasonable deal or he is absolutely done.
  22. I am OK with trading Ellsbury - but I can't imagine in my wildest dream that we will go a whole season with the serial monkey. Your point that Ellsbury's value is the highest now is very good. On the otherhand - Andruw Jones's value is as low as it can ever be as well as his agent's. If we do deal Jacoby - I don't mind Andruw Jones in Boston if we get a really good deal.
