  1. I'm not blaming you. But you campaigned for him all last winter when alot of us said no way, not at that money, but you didn't care about money then because there was extra to spend. Then when they signed him to that ridiculous deal and now have very little flexability you complain about him. I'm just trying to keep you honest. You wanted him, no matter what the cost was. And now you have to deal with it for another 6 years. So you should be careful for what you wish for, you might just get it. They did exactly what you wanted, and now that it's back fired you need to own up to it and realize that it was a bad move for a player that we already had in Ellsbury. And the Cherry on this Sunday is that Boras will be using CC's deal as a baseline for what he will be asking for JE. But that's always been your issue. Your all about the right now. And don't care how it effects the team the following year or imediate future. Learn from these mistakes man. With no CC there would have been moore money for pitching this off season, more money to potentially extend JE(doubtful consider the Boras factor). Even if Crawford had a decent season he was still not worth the money they gave him and would still be taking up a big chunk of the payroll. It was a bad deal from the start and hopefully this is an example you can learn from that getting the big name right now isn't always the best thing. I mean look at Agon, The Sox missed out on Tex, and instead of blowing that money just to get a name and appease the fans they waited. They got their man and at a damn good price too. Agons deal might be the biggest bargain at the moment in the league considering the deals that were signed this off season. Why am I writing all this? Just incase they don't get any SP's "right now", it's not the end of the world. Maybe if they wait another Agon type deal comes along. I know that makes for a "boring" hot stove, but I'm sure you will survive
  2. They will add later in the year. Another boring offseason? because they haven't done anything in years.... Your incredible lol. You know one of the main reasons they can't and haven't done anything is because of the money they have tied up in your boy Crawford right? They guy you bitch pissed, moaned and made polls for last off season.
  3. All he is going to be is ST fodder or AAA depth. He will have to show a lot to even pitch for Boston this season. SO I don't think we need to worry about him.
  4. That be nice. I still don't see them getting anything of note. If Selig wants to set an example he should make a rule that if a GM leaves early for another club he has to take one contract of the parted club's choice with him
  5. I'm going to be sitting in RF box 8(pink area on the seating chart) row J. Anyone ever sit in that area? Will they be good seats?
  6. Signing someone just to say you signed someone is hollow and is the kind of move that is only to pamper "chicken little" types. Calm down. Yes the Sox have question marks with how they are constructed at this moment. But that doesn't mean they should fill up on garbage like Theriot. There is no rule stating you must start the season with a sure thing in every spot on the 25 man roster. You have no idea who will be available during the season and into next offseason. And at this point in the off season it's gotten to the point where "what could be there soon" and the risk that comes with it and "what is available right now are pretty equal. At this point I think it's just better to go with what they got and see who's available to add later on. I mean Theriot could still be available in July.
  7. They will have money to spend next year with Papi, Dice-K, Jenks and others coming off the books. Probably only enough for 1 tho with Arb raisies for in-house players. If they don't pick up Youk's option or trade him then maybe they can get two. But it would be one stud and then a lower tier as they will Have Lester, Buchholz, Beckett and Lackey taking 4/5 rotation spots.
  8. Peopple would be happier if the hadn't dropped 20M a year on the lefty slap hitting softball OF'er and had money to spend this off season
  9. Don't get me wrong. Scutaro was by far Theo's best SS signing. He just became expendable at this point with Aviles/Punto/Iglesias being able to provide comparable production. I think Scutaro will have a solid season in Colorado. I think 2B will be less demanding for him. I also agree if they don't get a SP between now and the deadline then it wasn't exactly a necessary move.
  10. Typical O's
  11. Yes, we will miss those 10 Ab's a year
  12. I think both are equally risky. Now that I had the LT thing explained I'm not so against getting one of them. Ejax is the more proven pitcher in the AL and is healthier. Oswalt has the better track record, veteran presence but has more of an injury risk. Both I'm sure can help, both also have red flags.
  13. Damn really? I skimmed through the thread at work. I must have missed that.
  14. I agree, it looks like Miller is better suited for 1-2 innings. I don't see why Doubront, Pimentel, Tazawa all couldn't have a shot at providing league average production in the long man/ swing role. Silva could earn his way onto the roster and take that position. I'm not advocating they add no one to the staff. Just I'm not going to be upset if they don't do it right now. It's the same thing as usual between us. You want to win now, so everything needs to be on the team now. I also would like to see them win now, just not at the expense of the future. I'm willing to gamble a better player will become available later in the season. A player the Sox might not be able to fit if they sign one of those guys because there is no more room under the LT. Too bad they didn't have an extra 20M laying around. They could have both
  15. Considering what is out their, not really. Ejax is as inconsistent as they come. And Oswalt is intriguing but his injury history throws up red flags. I'm not against them going into the season with what they have and looking for better options later. pretty much how I felt about them getting crawford. I thought it was too much money and they be better off finding a stopgap instead of throwing that stupid contract out there and waisting a ton of money and ending any chance we had at keeping the better player in Ellsbury(Although I admit Ellsbury was an unknown at that point even though I stated numerous times the type of player I thought he could be). There is nothing wrong with holding your chips and wait for a better move to push them all in
  16. This was your mantra all last off season with Crawford. Be careful what you wish for.
  17. With the Pujols, Tex and now Fielders deals out there, Agons contract may be the biggest bargain in all of baseball for 1B lol
  18. So much for not wanting to play where his Father played. 200M will do that.
  19. This is absolutely nuts. The legend of Boras grows even bigger. This is by far his biggest rabbit... no elephant out of the hat act yet. Unreal.
  20. :wtf: Miggy to 3B?
  21. Did you miss the whole Rivernator2004 resurrection of sorts recently? The guy made some decent posts then he flamed out in an epic blaze of glory.
  22. I think that's a good deal for the Giants. It seems Timmy either wants a huge FA market type deal now to stay with the Giants or just enough to get him to free agency to set his price. I don't see why he would want out of SF, storied franchise with a great fan base that isn't too rabid. And it's not like the media is hardcore. But Timmy isn't a different animal, he may want the huge spotlight or go home and team up with the King? It will be an interesting topic the next couple seasons as the Pujols talk has been for the last couple years.
  23. I feel almost the same as you. I don't like him and his whole deal. And I would not be upset to never see him pitch for the Red Sox again. But he was not a total bust. The last couple years have been awful. His first two where good and one came with a Championship. So I try not to loathe the guy He's 3rd on my list of Sox players I can't stand at the moment.
  24. He may not have lived up to his original hype. Not many do. But he had a very solid major league career. Most players would be happy with that career slash line.
