  1. That is not my assumption. I prefer to wait and see if the life in his FB returned after a winter of training to be a RP. If he's throwing 96+ again I think he will be a solid piece in the BP.
  2. I'd offer Miller(Morales)+ SP prospect like Workman or Ranaudo or a young OF like Nava/Jacobs. Morse could be a monster at Fenway.
  3. I think the Sox were interested in some regards but not serious because of the draft pick it was going to cost them. I actually would rather they pass o Napoli at this point and go for Morse or Morneau(subject to change if the price is ridiculous, which I have a hard time believing it would be for either player).
  4. BP. He will have a look in ST to see if his velocity is back.
  5. I will be surprised if a couple guys were not brought in on minor league deals. I'm still hoping for Jurrjens.
  6. They way the roster is currently built having him 3rd makes a lot of sense. He's they type of bat that makes P pay for mistakes. Something that is likely to occur with Ells and Vic on the base paths.
  7. Laroche signed with the Nats. Most likely means Morse is available. His price won't be absurd as he's only got a year left. Nats are said to be looking for BP arms, something the Sox have a lot of. They want at least 1 LHP. So that's Miller or Morales. Morales and a small piece might work. Miller will likely need a higher prospect to go along with him. But the money saved from passing on Napoli can be used to bring in another SP and RP for depth. I know UN, he's not a Pitcher. But he's not going to cost a lot of pieces to be had.
  8. Laroche was never a fit. I would like them to look in on how much Morse will cost. I'd be ok with him at 1B if the price wasn't outrageous. Take the money saved and add another SP for depth.

  10. ha I knew something was making me suspicious!
  11. I hope he stays Byrd was never the same after the FB pie to the face. He started breaking down physically too. He never hit a ton of HR but to me he always had the look of a user. Not to say that makes him guilty. He was just built like a RB.
  12. We think trades were explored because that's what teams do. They also don't make moves just to make them. It's not blind faith to comprehend they had a plan going into the off season that certain players did not fit in for one reason or another. To think a modern day organization had NO discussions at all pertaining to pitching during an entire off season is certifiable. You have an agenda or some kind of bias if you actually think this. And again, they did make moves to address the pitching as a whole. Just because you or I don't like particular moves doesn't mean they didn't happen. No one is wearing a blindfold, but your camp that hates anything and everything the FO have lost it. Your arguing against people who are in the middle as far as liking/disliking the body of work and calling us apologists. You have selective memory that fits your agenda. If you didn't you'd realize most of us have some issue or another with the FO and aren't washing balls all day just because we don't bang the hate drum on every..single..thing..they..do......
  13. Yup that's true. I was just commenting on his overall fit at 1B. If it had gotten into what it would cost to get him I was most likely to end up in the camp of not wanting him/keeping prospects.
  14. I did. I bitched, pissed, moaned and went down in a kicking temper tantrum when they signed Dempster. Thing is I can't do f all about it and have decided instead of beating the deal to death I'm just gonna shut my mouth and hope for the best. What I DO like about the deal is it's not long term and is a movable deal. That added to the fact they didn't move any of the promising young SP prospects pushes me more towards the neutral area when looking at the deal overall. I don't like it, but don't hate it. Things don't have to be black or white for me I guess.
  15. No I run the baseball program the generates 100K+ a year in sponsorship from organizations ranging across Europe plus thousands of more euros from ticket sales and national tournaments. I've worked directly with two scouts for the Padres and Mariners concering two players that have developed under my watch(my fingers are crossed, they have an outside chance of being promoted from the under 21 team early in time for WBC '13. Tony Kriesel and Jorin Van Amstel). No it's not MLB. But it's closer to running a baseball organization then you have ever sniffed.
  16. No but the rotation is kinda full at the moment and 1B is open?
  17. They added a SP in Dempster and added 2 solid BP pieces. They had 4 guys returning with pretty much guaranteed rotation spots. Again, how is this not doing "Something". What you should be saying is they didn't make a move you feel is note worthy.
  18. Butler is not a bad idea, but KC seemed very apprehensive about dealing from their current MLB roster.
  19. Actually my business is baseball. I literally get paid to coach, scout and develop talent through KNBSB here in the Netherlands. If you were in charge of a baseball team, you would get fired.
  20. No he can't. Doing anything is better then nothing to him. Well until it doesn't work out, then it gets filed as a "boob" move.
  21. It's ok dojji, he's a lost cause. All I can hope is someone else will read what I'm saying and be able to comprehend it. It's certainly not a view that can be understood with horse blinders on.
  22. Actually it does address the future. By passing on Grienke, Sanchez and Jackson they have not blocked future pieces(they believe these players have a shot to make it, you don't I know). They also kept the future salary space they are going to have in 3 seasons(every current big money contract will have expired). They young core that the team is building will be at the beginning of it's run and they will have all the $ they want to finish off the product. The current team is built to keep fans like you civil. And I don't mean that disrespectfully. What I mean is fans who invest a large portion of their discretionary income(season ticket holders, group package types). With their ticket prices they can't go into full rebuild mode unless the lowered prices and thats not happening. So instead they build a short term team for the next 2-3 years and look for their next group of prospects to become the core. I don't know if you just don't get it or don't want to get it. If you step back and look at it without a "WS or bust this season" glasses, it seems very plausible that this could be in some manor the plan of the current FO in building a contender. If it works great, if it doesn't the will find a new group with a new direction and approach. What we can't do is look at what the old group did and expect the current group to do the same just because they worked together. Barnes, Hoyer, Cherries all have a base that is similar but each has his own style and way of going about roster construction. I also see Lucchino having less pull then he has recently(thank God). The Valentine and Crawford catastrophes I think have cost him a bit of power. Thus another reason added to why the team has been less risk taking this off season.
  23. How do you know its an off season plan and not a 3 or 5 year plan? Your inability to look beyond any one season is astounding. Their rotation is full, who exactly are you getting rid of and how and for what?
  24. It is more balanced and offers better protection for Napoli. But I don't see the Sox taking Ortiz out of the clean up unless he's struggling. Vic Pedroia Ells Ortiz Napoli Middlebroks Salty/Lavs/Ross Gomes/Kalish Drew They can stick Drew in behind Middlebrooks when Kalish is in(Kalish bats 9th). Most likely it will be Ells Vic Pedroia Ortiz Napoli Middlebrooks Drew Ross/Lavs/Salty Kalish/Gomes
  25. Napoli will likely hit 5th to protect Ortiz(if he even signs which I'm not sold on anymore).
