  1. So you instead want to give one of the best prospects in the organization a part time position, instead of him getting everyday AB's in AAA where he doesn't have a ton experience? Please try again. I admire the effort though.
  2. Again for the like the 1000X, Scott Boras is his agent. Still feel like they can hack out and extension?
  3. Of course you would be with the crowd that would sacrifice a year on control for literally 2 weeks of a season. Anything other then this from you would have been a shock. I don't care if he's the second coming of Babe Ruth. You don sacrifice 162 games for 9. Anther thing I don't get is why you have been so reluctant over the years to hand prospects starting jobs over a ML serviced player, but now your on the other side of the fence. Is there anything you actually stay true to?
  4. Depends on his season. If it's a good one, Boras will be able to sell him to some offensively starved team. If he has a bad year he will probably get a pillow contract somewhere. I still think he signs with Seattle(lots of money, need offense, can't attract the elite talent) or the Rangers possibly.
  5. I'd call him up in that instance if Ortiz is still out.
  6. You found 1, and that happened to come from one of the worst organizations in sports. If your worried about him getting hurt in AAA then he shouldn't be playing in meaningless ST games either. I wouldn't be one of the ones complaining if he was sent down and got hurt in AAA. s*** happens. Deal.
  7. I'm probably one of the earliest and biggest supporters of Ellsbury and there is no way in hell I'd give him that deal. Most I'd give him is a Bourn type deal and that's not going to cut it.
  8. Doh! Funny how people just remember what they want to sometimes.
  9. The comparisons were going to start regardless. I'm betting some have had lines waiting and have been chomping at the bit for the first time he got injured. It's actually kind of sad.
  10. I know. He's been a little off the rails lately with his whole prospect crusade. I chalk it up to theres probably a s*** ton of snow where he is and he's got cabin fever
  11. Exactly how many FO's would hand the starting SS job to a 20 year old that has never been above AA?..... .....You know why you can't think of any? Because it's a stupid move. Even the dumb franchises don't try that crap. All the butt hurt over how the FO is handling the top prospects in the organization from some is bordering on the ridiculousness. This isn't MLB the Show...
  12. He has an oblique injury he's been fighting through all spring. Not sure how useful he will be.
  13. Ya that's true. By then the big guys will be making 30M a season lol
  14. I would not give that kind of contract for that kind of production. I'm sorry but 20M a year should reserved for middle of the order type power bats.
  15. So you disagree with us looking ahead to 2019 because of the "if's"," but's" and all the unknowns, but your argument is based of the huge assumption they will be able to extend him to a deal that would negate the negative finical and team control issues. Dude I get it, your excited to see this guy. We are too. But there is more to it then just his name on the roster.
  16. I think we are on the same page.
  17. My point is they can explore other options for the short time period. You really want to give up a year of one of the best prospects in the system right smack in the middle of his prime for a month in his rookie season? You act as though what he's doing in ST is going to directly transfer to when the games matter. He would have to come up and basically have a Trout like impact for it to be worth it. How often does that happen? You honestly think he is going to come up and carry the team for a month? And even if he is good not great, the production over a one month span will probably not be that much more significant then league average and they have players capable of doing that already.
  18. Ya it's a floating date. But I think we can all wait 22% of one season and not lose 100% of another season.
  19. No not all because of the success this year. It's grown steadily since I've been here and now that they are doing pretty good it's like almost Dutch National Soccer team coverage. And that is saying something. Again I get why Americans aren't into it. But I don't believe the tournament was designed to attract Americans.
  20. Ya in hindsight they would have brought him up. But given no "future" information, they would have sent him back down to the minors. And you can't not bank on Bradley taking a team friendly extension that covers his arb years until the ink is dry on the contract. Until that point you go as if you only control him until 2019 at increasing amounts each season. And I don't see the point in making it 2018 for an extra few weeks in April when they have other options to fill in for that time period. Like it or not, it's a bad baseball decision to waste a year on one of your best young assets.
  21. It will be somewhere around that date.
  22. That's why he's writing stories and not a GM of a Baseball team. It's not just one year. If he hits super 2 early then each year after that is an further increase on what they will have to pay every year in arb. That's probably an extra 10M over 5 years in arb and the loss of a controlled season which is probably like 15M by that time. That's 25M for bringing him up a month or two early. Nationals: Richest owner in Baseball, waited on Harper Angels: Spent like drunken sailors, still waited on Trout
  23. No, I found the ignore to useful at first but in the end it just messes with the layout of the screen as I can still see your posts. Definition, Thank you Seems you need a brush up on your English.
  24. Americans find it pointless. The rest of the world likes it and it's helping increase popularity for the sport. Just in the 7 years I've been in the Netherlands, I've seen a huge increase in Baseball popularity on a National scale. When I first got here, the Dutch national team was basically the red headed step child of a Soccer family. Now the team is all over the news and people are wearing their colors in support of the team. Not saying it's all because of the WBC, but the National tournament stage has helped a lot.
  25. And I'm pretty sure I didn't mention you in my post. Funny how you assumed I was talking about you when discussing knee jerk reactions though. And again, you are completely out of touch if you think someone who pitched 13 IP was going to earn a rotation spot. That is incredibly daft from someone who supposedly has a clue.
