This could very well be true. I don't see that many owners willing to throw 50M+ for a posting fee, then another 50M+ on a contract. Just about every team has cut payroll, or maintaind it. And if the posting goes that high, very few teams will be involved. Besides from what i've read, Yu has upside, but he's not Dice-K. If maybe it was closer to what the posting was for Igawa, 25M(somewhere around there), then a contract, I could see more teams being involved.

The economy is going to limit Yu's market. I don't see anyone posting 50M+ this time around. I think the Yanks could easily win the bidding.

Sorry JE, I thought I linked it. I didn't look back in until now, but D found the link. I don't use MLBtraderumors itself as a credible source(even though it has gotten better over the years), but it's a great place to go to see alot of the better sources(ESPN,Fox,SI,rotoworld, ect) all in one place.

I never said I absolutely wanted either player. But I did present them as offensive upgrades/depth possibilites. I actually like the idea of them waiting to see who becomes available. Dojji, VMart is a nice idea. Bedard if healthy. But Guillen, Ordonez, Meche and Young aren't what i think they will be looking for. Those guys are good players but are signed at not so great contracts. I think the Sox will wait for a great player, with a substantial contract to become available. I think there is a good chance we will be surprised at some of the names that become available.

Too bad he can't play SS. Anyone else think he is on something? Him and Cantu both seem to have gotten sudden power strokes from nowhere. Just a thought. I could really care less if he is, just more of a visual opionion on my behalf.

Outside of avg. being an overated stat, I agree it be hard to take at moments. But you have to value his other contributions.

But like I have stated before, given the current economy, some players that weren't available in Nov-Dec, might be available now. There might be some moves we never even considered. Or maybe nothing comes of it, and the team goes with what they got. That be fine too. With Catcher being reolved of course.

His D can be hidden by LF. And him not playing 1B everyday should lower the amount/chances of error. The Sox also have a deep enough bench to sub him out late in games for defensive purposes. Dunn would provide great insurance for the other 3 players. I find it hard to believe all 3 will make it through the season without some kind of ailment. And if everyone is healthy, then he would have trade value come July.
