  1. I was trying to get them to see it threw our eyes. And Joba's a good example. If he pitches like I said, I don't believe there would be very many Yankees fans that would argue against a contract extension. Especially one at that price. But you are right, if they keep spending at their status quo, they can afford to let these guys hit the market.
  2. I would think even with a Salary cap, teams would be able to pay a SP 6M a season. What they would not be able to do is pay a SP 16M-20M.
  3. Can I use paper and crayons for my entry?
  4. I was going to mention this, but I figured it would be like talking to a brick wall.
  5. You say wishful thinking, I say delusional fantasizing;) Thing is, you can't be 100% sure either way. Lot's of different things to take into consideration. No one person is going to heal the same as another. But it will all get resolved when Arod hits the field and you will see what you have in him.
  6. By Gom's standards, TB must have been trying to kill baseball by giving Longoria a long term deal with little to no ML time under his belt.
  7. I am on record as saying I would like a salary cap. It would expose franchises that are badly run. As in scouting, drafting, re-signing players, signing FA, trades. I also think the Sox would continue to do well. The FO drafts and develops young talent pretty well. Which would be key with a salary cap. They have shown they can look for a good bargain with FA's. And shown self control by placing a certain value on a player and sticking to it. But in the end there is no cap, the Yankees spend $$ like theirs an expiration date, and still lose. So It's hard to argue against keeping things the same:D
  8. That story is what first got me thinking about it. Seeing him pitch yesterday just added to it. I thought it was posted here, so I assumed everyone for the most part read it.
  9. You can't be serious. Are you delusional and forget what the Yanks just payed Burnett? Burnett/16M a year, Lester/Dice-K combined for 14M. Enough said. This post drips of sour grapes. And once again Gom lowers the bar for petty posting. But anyways, I like the deal.
  10. As in spelling or the overall theme of the post? If it's Spelling well you know me. If it's the Theme of the post, well I said that there would have to be a few things that would have to line up for this to happen. I also said there is a fairly good chance he's not going to be anything outstanding. I just thought it be a nice storyline for the upcoming season. Besides that I'm not really sure what you could have wrong with my "personal opinion" post, outside of just giving me grief for the sake of being a dick.
  11. I know they have other guys to fill in. But if Wake is hurting and can't go, I wouldn't mind seeing Pedro get a shot at the rotation. Let me also say that I understand it's the AL East. And that he is probably no a 30 start pitcher anymore. And his outting was against the Netherlands(BTW tooting my own horn but the Pitcher Smits for the Netherlands, I have a .500 AVG against,(2 for 4) room mate is 4 for 5:thumbsup:) But I don't know if any of you watch the WBC game, he looked strong. His fastball from the eyeball test(no radar gun on broadcast) seemed lively, with plenty on it. His breaking and off speed stuff looked sharp. And you guys know me, I don't get to overly gushy about emotions usually, but it look as if there is still some fire left in Pedro. He looked pumped out there. So it made me think he might be worth a shot. Especially if Penny and Wake are potential Implosions. I don't usually go for the Nostalgic side of things, but I have to admit, there would be a certain amount of happiness to see #45 on the mound again. Also the return of the atmosphere that Pedro brought to Fenway would be pretty cool.
  12. Not bad Bosox21:D
  13. I hope they sign him for 4/100M
  14. The Economy didn't seem to effect Tex, CC, or AJ. His behavior in Boston cost him a ton. If he was so happy in LA he would have taken the deal he was offered by LA 4 months ago, when they originally offered it. Instead he was looking for the big money, but it wasn't out there like Boras thought it would be. Boras was banking on the fact that teams would just look at Manny numbers and not his antics. Boras and Manny did a fairly good job at failing on this one. But it's ok they will get another shot next season. Manny is going to be a perfect angel all season, and then go in to the off season saying he plays hard everyday and was a good boy all year. And then someone will probably be dumb enough to give in to his demands. Then "Manny being Manny" will return.
  15. No, I was more or less trying to see if this theory had crossed anyone's mind besides my own.
  16. TO to the Bucs is iffy. They don't have veteran QB or Coach. There is no one there to keep him in line.
  17. I apologize Gom. I had not yet read anything about it being a torn labrum, just a cyst. Upon learning this knew info, I agree with you, 4 months is a long time to be without Arod.
  18. Ok Gom, now I can see why you said 4 months. I was not aware that it was a torn labrum. I think Arod has a better chance of healing quicker then Lowell. But now the Yankees will go through the whole season wincing everytime he makes an akward swing/play. Just like the Sox went through with Papi and his wrist last season.
  19. Maine is bomb or bust when it comes to economy. And most of it comes from tourism. And when people aren't touring, things get grim. I imagine the Ski resorts took a big hit this winter. BTW, for everyone else, sorry for getting off topic. Dojji and I tend to get into discussions about Maine from pretty much out of nowhere
  20. You can major in that in Maine(lil joke from one Mainer to another)
