  1. It's hard to see Carter going down after his spring. Him hitting LH on a bench that is LH heavy is probably the biggest thing holding him back now. That and his ultimately average glove.
  2. I was more talking about how the deal went down. How the Yankees ultimately got the last phone call. Not how the FO viewed Tex. You bring up some valid points about how the Sox usually come out on the better end when dealing with Boras. Guess I just had a case of selective memory.
  3. Nice find Kilo. Be a nice Catching prospect to have in the system:D How old is he?
  4. We blind today?:dunno:
  5. That was before the Tex debacle:D I should have said there probably less likely to play along with his games anymore. Instead they will now go in make an offer and put a deadline on it. And if they don't take it move onto the next one. And make it public too, let everyone know the Sox are out of it. That way he can't use them to drive up the price. I don't see the FO being a pawn in Scott Boras's off season Chess games anymore.
  6. Because the "beating a dead horse" reference get's old. After 2 pages it just turned into a personal squabble between you two, then after the 3rd page it turned into the weekly Dojji hate fest. And when you come in to the "2009 Spring training" thread, you hope to read whats going with the team. Not 2 people bickering about Kris f***ing Johnson, of whom won't even see the ML at any point this season unless an Meteor hits the f***ing Bullpen. If you want to discuss Johnson, take it to the minors thread. If your bored and feel like having a message board duel, take it to anything goes. Don't mind you guys bantering, just take it to it's proper place is all I'm saying.
  7. Even if it is 50M(which is absurd to begin with), I don't see SD passing on the hometown kid. I wouldn't mind the Sox drafting him if he fell that far. Always nice to have a flamethrower up and coming. Anyone think the Sox would pass just because it's a Boras client? After this offseason I would not be at all surprised if they take the CWS route and don't deal with Boras anymore. But outside of Holliday, he doesn't have anyone the Sox would be interested in(IMO) for the couple of years anyways(.
  8. Take that back, it doesn't look like there's anyway SD let's him pass. So he will be top 3 certainly. SI has a great article on him. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/lee_jenkins/03/25/stephen.strasburg/index.html?eref=T1 Every fat guy that can throw 90MPH just hired a conditioning coach after reading this story LOL.
  9. LOL I know what your saying now. Forgive me for totally disregarding that fact LOL. I thought I get creative and add in the records, but I should have known better Chalk this one up as an L in the "Stoned posting" Column:lol:
  10. Isn't this the guy that has Boras for an agent, and he wants like 50M or he's sending him to Japan? I bet this kid falls pretty far in the draft. The Yankees might be the only team that can afford Boras's demands.
  11. Call it my optimistic predictions LOL The math could be wrong as well LOL I admit I was being generous for Seattle, Cincy and SF, all 3 most likely will end up with losing records. But I figure why put the same thing as everyone else, so I went out on a limb with a few teams.
  12. 2+ pages about Kris Johnson, really?
  13. And for someone that young, thats too many innings. I would hazard a guess saying most teams would limit his innings work for a couple seasons. Also thats 200 innings+ in Japan. Where Dice-k did the same amount of work. How many innings does he throw now? I'm not saying he couldn't start in the majors, he looks like he has the talent for sure, but hes going to be a major investment, and I just don't see most teams casually throwing him straight into major league hitters. But thats just MO. I wish the Sox could get in on him, but I don't see the Yankees being outbid this time around.
  14. AL East Red Sox Yankees(WC) TB(I think there BP takes a big step back) Baltimore Toronto AL Central Cleveland Detroit KC Minny CWS AL West LAA Seattle Oakland Texas NL East Mets Philly(WC) Florida ATL DC NL Cental Cubs Brewers Cincy St. Louis Houston Pitt NL West LAD SF AZ SD COL *Edited
  15. Fisk or Berra. But both will probably be surpassed by someone who is currently playing. There are some really good offensive Catchers out there.
  16. Not the least bit surprising.
  17. Cool, always nice to see the old Red and White jersey's occasionally.
  18. Melky has been on the block for awhile. I never saw the optimism about him. He looked at best a 4th OF IMO. Wasn't there someone on here who was trying to argue Melky being a HOF caliber player a while back?
  19. Detroit and Oakland, 2 worst franchises in the league. And now they have invaded both non NFL network games:wtf: ......Really? I know every team needs pub, but can they please stop giving Detroit the TG game? The NFL is really good about adjusting things to better the game. This is one issue they continue to drop the ball on.
  20. I'm kind of drowning out the Yankee fans on this topic, I normally don't because I respect their personal opinions even if I don't agree with them. But they have far too much bias against Schilling. He ended their dynasty in AZ., and helped bring 2 Championships to the Red Sox. If they are ever going to be bitterly biased against anyone, it will be him:D
  21. Hey Guys, I know there are mixed feeling on Colin Cowherd here, but he made a pretty good argument for Schilling going into the HOF. Schilling was the best pitcher when it mattered most. His regular season stats may not be as big as some, but when it mattered most, very few come near his achievements on the mound. And if your the best pitcher when it matters most, how can you not be a HOF? Also he made a point about Schilling going to 2 different franchises with losing cultures. And won multiple Championships while being a major difference maker every time. I was on the fence about Schilling being a HOF, but these seem to be valid points and something to consider in the long run.
  22. Thanks for what you did for Boston Curt. He may be retiring, but I find it hard to believe we won't be hearing from him in some manor eventually:D
