  1. Dice-K 6 innings, 85 pitches, no BB's, nice outing. Hopefully when he comes back to camp he will continue to pitch well, and maybe get passed 6inngs before hitting the 100 pitch mark in a regular season game
  2. So what your saying is it screws up your personal agenda? Do a little research a700, the WBC may be drawing dick, and getting low ratings in the States, but in other Countries is is getting big numbers. And since the point of the tourny is to try and get the whole world involved in baseball, I'd say it's doing a fair job. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090313/sp_nm/us_baseball_worldclassic_1 . Just because no one cares about it in your fishbowl, doesn't mean the rest of the world feels the same.
  3. Ok, but he still didn't say anything until he was brought in front of Congress. Pujols hasn't been mentioned in anything, but he still put himself out there.
  4. If not for Free Agency, the Yankees would be a last place team every year.
  5. No discipline, couldn't hit a curve ball, no work ethic, has the body of an NFL LB but rival Drew in durability. Should I keep going? Your sum up his time in Boston as "not that terrible".... Do I need to run the Red flag up the pole for you to see it?
  6. I believe him for now. Wouldn't shock me is it comes out he did. Give him credit for coming out and making a statement. All of the other guys don't do anything until they get caught.
  7. It's not a move, but it's a minor note. Thought it was interesting Pedro had any desire to return to Boston. But he probably pitch anywhere about now. If they didn't already have Penny and Smoltz, I'd say give him a shot. It relatively low risk depth move. But with what the team has now, I can't blame them for Passing. Question is though, what if he looks really good in the WBC? My original post on the topic.... Pretty sure I gave the story credit when I first posted about this subject in the Red Sox minor moves thread. Sorry if I didn't feel the need to mention it again. I was a little skeptical when the story broke. But after seeing him pitch, I thought it might actually work if there was room for him. Best guess is he reunites with Manny in LA.
  8. The best thing WMP could do for the Sox, is sign with the Yankees.
  9. Papelbon is a straight shooter and a competitor. Manny was hindering the teams ultimate goal. It's not surprising Papelbon saw Manny as a cancer.
  10. I mentioned giving Pedro a shot after seeing him Pitch for the DR in the 1st game of the WBC. If Wake and Penny crap out, I wouldn't mind it. I said there would be something to seeing #45 on the mound at Fenway again.
  11. Because he's been bitching about these low risk/ high reward(coming off injury) players all off season. If he waits any longer, he runs the risk of them getting healthy and making his argument a moot point.
  12. Gom I can't believe your fighting this so much. Think of it this way, if the Sox did raise the market for signing young pitchers, and if that contributes to smaller market teams not being able to sign their younger players, it will lead to more FA's hitting the market. Thus giving the Yankees the advantage of over bidding and signing those players that might have been re-upped by their original club. If every team signs their own players, how will the Yankees ever field a competitive team?
  13. Muaahhhhh! The Dutch rule! Ok now that I have gloated I can say how shocked I am by this. There are like 3 guys on the Dutch team that I have over .500 AVG against(extremely small sample size), and the DR couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a shovel against them! The Netherlands play good D and they look to be out to prove something. The DR bought into everyones hype and played very uninspiring ball this tournament(outside of a couple players). Another thing to consider, most the Dutch guys throw in the mid 80's, and when your used to seeing 90+MPH FB's, it can be hard to pick up and get your timing down. The really sad thing is people outside of the baseball group here probably don't even know about the game, or just how big of an upset or how remarkable this really is. Also for those making fun of the Netherlands team, there playing ball, what are you doing?
  14. Shouldn't be long before Gom and Jacko are picking this article apart. And calling Stark a bias prick.
  15. This is exactly what it breaks down too. I was just hoping someone wouldn't have to dumb it down so much
  16. Ya probably should have thought about that before choosing Washington. That game is probably the closest he will get to a playoff type atmosphere for the next couple seasons, unless he's traded.
  17. Typical Win now and at all costs Yankee mantra.
  18. I heard this is the same type of injury that Albert Belle and Bo Jackson had. Any truth to this?
  19. Holy s*** I completely spaced that DipreG was from the DR.
  20. Not according to all that is Gom.
  21. Your trying to argue pitching vs offense with a Yankees fan. Good luck.
