  1. Maybe a switch to LF is all he needs:dunno:
  2. Latest from Joel Sherman. Would Hawpe be a viable option in LF for the Sox if Bay/Holliday fall through? Most here believe it's going to be one or the other. I think Bay will get more years somewhere else(SF or Seattle if I had to pick) and signs elsewhere. Holliday is probably the #1 target, but when dealing with Boras there is no sure thing. If both of those players sign elsewhere we are looking at Damon, Vlad, Ankiel, Dye, Nady's of the world. If Hawpe's price tag wasn't outrageous it might be worth looking into.
  3. TB just made their decisions on their players with options,
  4. This was the list that was released today. Some noteworthy changes from the earlier projected compensation lists. Chone Figgins- Type-A, not a Type-B as projected. Melvin Mora -ype-A, not a Type-B as projected. Vladimir Guerrero- Type-B, not a Type-A as projected. Gregg Zaun - no compensation to Type-B.(option was just declined by TB) Jerry Hairston Jr.- Type-B to no compensation. Hideki Matsui -Type-B to no compensation. Aubrey Huff- Type-B to no compensation.
  5. Your probably right. The Jays might except a deal without Buchholz. But who's going to be the SP going back? I mean they really have to get a solid SP back don't they? I think they would be more interested in Happ then say Bowden or Tazawa(just my opinion, like you said before, I don't really know what Toronto's GM is thinking/doing). Kelly could be someone of interest. But they may want someone a little closer to ML level:dunno: It's definitely an interesting topic. You think they Sox could extend both Beckett and Halladay? They have to be able to sign one. Unless Buchholz makes that last final hurdle and becomes a #1 type horse.
  6. Toronto isn't excepting a deal without Buchholz. The Sox are not going to trade Buchholz.
  7. Agreed. A 4 year extension at around 14M AAV would be nice. Not sure if that would get it done though.
  8. The GM meetings aren't typically known for actual deals taking place(not all the time I know). But a lot of ground work is usually laid out, and see some of the deals finished up at the next set of meetings in December. This year seems different though. There have been 4 semi major trades already. So I think there could actually be some moves that go down this time around. I think the teams selling will want to move players contracts sooner rather then later IMO. But we will see.
  9. hahaha your right, I changed it to be a little more politically correct LOL
  10. Yeah, so I'm thinking Venezuela isn't a top vacation destination at the moment...
  11. "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die"
  12. Anyone following the Wagner Mateo story? I have read this kid is a real talent. But there is some controversy over his vision or something. But I guess he has had laser surgery now and is ready to go. Anyone think the Sox should swoop and and give the kid the 3-5M it would likely take to sign him while some of the other interested parties stand by?
  13. I think they could bring him back at about 3M. If he won't take it I guess they could look at Tejada or OC on a one year deal.
  14. Is it really him? It looks fake to me.
  15. How so? Yes he has hit well(Coors East aided this season), but can not play CF everyday anymore. NY was just lucky enough to not have a viable LF so they could slide Damon and his noodle arm over. When that deal was signed, Boston still had Manny, there was nowhere to slide Damon. And he probably be killing the team and himself is he had to play CF everyday.
  16. Anyone think Yorvit Torrealba is a viable back up catcher to bring in if Tek isn't back next year? He managed a line of .291/.351/.380 in 242 plate appearances this season in a back up role. He's probably going to be looking for a starting gig though. I can see the Mets offering him that.
  17. Yup, it's a solid move. Makes CWS IF overall better IMO. Now if they could get a 1B so Konerko could DH. Depending on the market and how it goes is CWS are looking for a 1B, they might have interest in Kotchman eventually.
  18. And they settled for Carlos Gomez? I guess Minnesota couldn't wait to trade Hardy. you would have thought they would have at least waited until the GM meetings to gauge interest.
  19. That is the current rumor from what I've read. The will save a good amount of money with Gomez instead of Cameron. I can see them making a play for Harden, Washburn, someone of that ilk. I don't see them getting in on Lackey though, too expensive.
  20. I would be horrified if the Sox spent 16-18M on Lackey. I am not a Lackey guy. I don't see him aging well. I don't see him as the power pitcher most claim him to be. But besides that I agree with you. I would want Beckett if he's was coming from elsewhere. And probably wouldn't mind him getting a big contract.
  21. Deals official now.
  22. At this point in time yes. The Santana deal was one of the worst deals ever IMO.
