  1. I think it is going to be some sort of Hermida/Cameron platoon in LF. Or Cameron in CF when he plays, and Ellsbury moving over to LF. Then Elllsbury back in CF when Hermida is playing :dunno: I wanted Holliday. But I can understand why the team may not go in that direction. I'm glad there not giving Bay 5 years. Cameron on a 1 or 2 year deal seems like a good alternative IMO.
  2. And who leads off if Ellsbury is traded? There's no sense in trading Ellsbury unless your bringing in someone that is a better leadoff/defensive player. Cameron Maybe a better defender, but I don't believe he is a leadoff hitter. And don't give me Scutaro either. He's had one good year and I don't want them relying on him as the lead off hitter. He should be 8th or 9th IMO. Also, nice to see you back my Dominican brother from another mother
  3. I have mixed feelings about the deal. One I believe Lackey is a injury risk. He's had arm issues the last couple seasons and couldn't break 92MPH vs the Yankees. Which isn't a big deal, but he is supposedly a power pitcher. 2, I think this may lead to a Buchholz trade. Which I'm very much against. If they keep Buchholz and go with the 5 man rotation of Lester, Beckett, Lackey, Dice-K, Buchholz I think it would be better the trading him off for Adrian and creating a whole in the rotation. 3, if they trade Buchholz they have a hole in the rotation to fill. That may not sound big now, but if Beckett leaves next off season the Sox will be left with Lester, Lackey, Dice-K, not exactly great, but not horrible. Beckett is going to want a similar deal or more IMO. I would have rathered they gave the money to him, but if they are willing to extend him too then I could really get on board for this deal. But if Lackey is coming into replace Beckett/Buchholz, I'm not sold. But like I have always said, I'll support however they throw out there.
  4. He's in for a very rude awakening.
  5. It would be stupid to give more the Figgins AAV. Unless it was a 1 or 2 year deal.
  6. It's useless. It's the equivalent of arguing with a stop sign.
  7. You are the biggest stooge ever. They run a business. Why would they want to operate at a loss? Why would they not want to make as much as possible? Isn't that the point behind Capitalism? Why would they change their business model if the seats are still filled every night? Like I said before, if you don't like it, stop spending your money on the team and tune out if need be. If you don't like how they are spending the money, don't spend it on them. It seems a very easy point to grasp. If no one shows up to the games, I'm sure they might change the way they operate. Thing is the FO knows for every fan that walks out and doesn't buy season tickets or single game tickets or whatever, there will be 2 more to step up and buy them. A high school kid in his first term of economics could probably grasp this concept, but the guy who works for a bank and the sites resident senior citizen can't seem wrap their heads around it...
  8. Or Drabek(sp?)
  9. It's a difference of 6.5M lunch box, plus they get Ramirez. You work for a bank? Really?
  10. They might like Happ more. But I bet they could spin Hamels off somewhere else for a good return. But if Toronto takes Happ, the Phillies walk to the NL Championship with that 1-3.
  11. I'm a sicko? Why because I don't fall into deep depressions when the Sox don't win? Or take it as a personal slight when they don't make moves? Love your family, like your teams. Gain some perspective. If a sports franchise losing a game has such an effect on you emotionally, that's a "you" problem. Of course I like to see the Sox win, but when they do, I have moved on from it about an hour after the game ends. Same as when they lose. Maybe a little longer for when the season ends(good or bad). But after a couple days I'm looking towards next season. It's just the way I am. I enjoyed the WS titles immensely. But by about January I'm ready for a new season, and the previous season doesn't really matter to me a whole lot.
  12. Speak for yourself. My happiness in life is not based on whether or not the Sox win or lose.
  13. Anyone think Sheets would be worth a "Harden" type deal? 7.5 base, maybe 3-4M in incentives?
  14. JC I hope so. Between that and the DH comment, I'm starting to question Gom's mental capacity/status. Wouldn't want to make fun of anyone who is "special".
  15. ATL has already spent big bucks on the BP expecting Gonzalex and Soriano to leave. Soriano would have eaten up a big portion of what the team has left to spend on filling out the roster. They get a cost controlled decent young RP and the extra money to sort out their other issues.
  16. Like I said, outside of a one year deal it would be dumb to give him 10M+ a year. Not when Figgins just got 9M and Pedro Feliz got 4.5. Every GM is going to point to those deals. I'm not sure there is a team desperate enough out there for Beltre's services to over pay for him. Maybe they plan on sending Youk to 3B and playing Ramirez/Martinez at C/1B and Beltre isn't part of the plans.
  17. Pay 19M for Beltre and a top Catching prospect or 12M for a declining veteran that has warranted question marks... Hmmm
