  1. A Rays fan with a brain? How refreshing.
  2. Fixed it for you ;)? a700 really if you would just not look at the $ amounts and focus on the year of contracts, I truly think you would enjoy the game more. And that's not just you. I say that to all sports fans of every sport in general. Worrying or caring about how much a players earns is futile IMO. The only thing you can do is not watch or spend any money on the team. And let's face it, who really going to do that? All you have to worry about is the Sox got Drew at a decent amount of years during a decent proportion of his "prime" years.
  3. Millar should at least be entertaining. Is NESN giving every member of the 2004 squad a shot at being an analyst?
  4. Better to get it over and dealt with now.
  5. I think that if the Red Sox were too far out to make a run, they would have some decent trade chips. That in mind here's what I would do. I would trade Papelbon and V-Mart. At the deadline these two players should bring back some good talent. Some GM will be desperate, always is. Also put Cameron, Beltre, Lowell and Ortiz on the block. See what there is and if it can net something of worth pull the trigger. I also call up SD and Milwaukee and lay the ground work for a Agon/Prince deal. Getting a deal done by this TDL seems iffy. But at the end of the season they should have a good head start. Now into the off season. Acquire one of the aforementioned first basemen and sign them long term. With the trades at the deadline, the Sox should have enough pieces to make an enticing offer. Sign Adam Dunn. 3/30M I would wager is a deal he would be intrigued by. That adds some much needed thump to the lineup. To balance it out I would kick the tires on Jayson Werth. And if it is reasonable bring him on board. These three moves, although complex would instantly change the SOx lineup. Run prevention will be a thing of the past. Not saying it'll be easy or anything, you asked for a plan and this is what came to mind for me
  6. It has taught me that OBP = (Hits + Walks + Hit By Pitch) / (At-bats + Walks + Hit By Pitch + Sacrifice Flies). Also the "Red Sox" have been a notable "ice breaker" for me through out my life. One such occasion was the first meeting of the dad of a girl I was dating. The conversation was your typical tense situation between father and the guy who ultimately given the chance, will bang his daughter. That was before the Red Sox came up. Almost immediately Upon finding out I was a Sox fan I was given sort of credibility. Before I knew it we were deep into conversation about the current Sox situation. And after about an hour the girl and myself were leaving to "You two have fun", "if your going to stay out tonight just give us a call to let us know so we don't stay up waiting". A bit stunned by the change of fortune, I took fool advantage and laid pipe to that girl all night. And fully give credit for that night of nights to the Boston Red Sox. True story.
  7. The Sox will have no interest in Nathan. Wilson Ramos would most likely have to be part of any deal with the Twinkies.
  8. Seconded. Good luck Dave
  9. Pujols hasn't signed an extension yet...(j/k)
  10. I think it's reasonable toe expect Tek to be more consistent at the plate if he is being rested properly. He still hits pretty well from the RH side. If they could limit his exposure to mid-upper tier RHP it might help.
  11. I wouldn't be shocked if the Sox dealt him before the TDL. Some team will over pay for what Papelbon has done in the past.
  12. Jody Reed and Bob Zupzic... double ugh.
  13. That sucks, I was hoping Wagner would get a chance to show what he has. I don't mind Brown as a back up. Don't think he's much of a long term solution though. But if he can throw runners out or at least keep them honest, anything he did with the bat would be a +.
  14. Dunn may be a stretch, but I don't think he is a pipe dream though.
  15. I'm thinking Pujols is looking at a 6/170M deal extension offer from the Cards. Add in this years salary and next it would equal out to 8/202M. That seems about right. I don't know what to expect if he hits FA.
  16. Nice post.
