  1. Trade Papelbon and use some or all of that return in a package. They can do it. They just have to get creative. That be a lot of money coming off the books for KC. Hell if the mash unit continues with pitchers throw in Meche for even more salary relief. not saying it's likely, just one of the multiple routes it could possibly go.
  2. I like the thought of upping the ante to get Soria as well. But not Kelly. He is one of the few prospects I feel is just untouchable at this moment. I was against him being a part of a Adrian deal. So I will assume that stance here as well. There are only a handful of players I would make him available for league wide. Now I am on record as saying I thought Dubront's cameo a little while ago was to showcase him. I think he gets KC's attention. Add Bowden and a solid hitting prospect and I believe that's an offer KC has to think about. Hell if the Sox can find a taker for Lowell see if they will throw in Alex Gordon
  3. What a douche... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beR4kd5LJhI
  4. I would like to see them add DeJesus. But from what I have read KC wants a lot in return for him.
  5. 9 base runners in 5 innings is not good. No matter what uniform they are wearing.
  6. I have heard crazier ideas. Give some team for the pink hats to flock to.
  7. Nah, model the park to replicate "Old Fenway", add in some new bells and whistles and move on. No point in lingering around. But I will say the "Old Fenway" should be open to holding College games, maybe High School Tournaments and championship games. That would be the way to keep the atmosphere alive there.
  8. Your so money, you don't even know how money you are.
  9. Well they did something
  10. Hmmm that's a little more then I thought I read it was. But still it should be done. Maybe the league should have a fund that every team pays a small percentage of their revenue into each year and when a new park goes up MLB can help with the bill. It's just a thought. And I ABSOLUTELY agree with your statement about if they do build a new stadium they should follow the Patriots model. That place is an absolute cash cow.
  11. Nice post Jacko. It probably would have had better response's if it wasn't coming from you. You raise good points. but with all the money the current ownership group has dumped into giving Fenway a face lift over the last few years, I don't see them wanting to spring for a brand new stadium anytime soon. That said, I don't think they would go the billion dollar route the Yankees took. I'd look at Minnesota's new ball park as more of a comparison. that ball park is beautiful without having gone completely overboard(like that yankees did, not saying it's not a beautiful park because it is, but it's a little over the top, just like in Dallas). I also don't think they need to make a 50K+ seat stadium. I'd go 45,000 max and maybe have some standing room areas through out the park. Also any new ball park built from now on for any team should be required to have a retractable roof. Be so nice to just be done with rain delays and cancellations all together. the technology is there and it is good. And all in all it doesn't severely tip the budget when adding one in. Just my thoughts on the matter
  12. Be a good opportunity to ship Dice-k out Doubront and Bowden seem like good cornerstones for any package. Throw in Dice-K and pick up part of the check and Seattle probably has to consider it at least.
  13. I've been beating the "trade Dice-K" drum for awhile. It's never going to happen until he gains some value and the Sox can get something useful back. I think Dice-K is much more suited for NL approach. I think he could be middle to top of the rotation type of SP in the NL. Thing is dude is always hurt and for every gem he throws, he has a stinker to go with it. So he's hard to shop. That and for some reason I believe he has a NTC in his contract. So moving him seems like a long shot at this point IMO.
  14. Probably best I thought he would hit well, similar to Lowell's turn around when coming to Boston. But I didn't think he hit as good as he has. His knee on the ground HR's are hysterical
  15. Ya I know, my phrasing wasn't good, but you obviously get my point. I haven't been able to keep up with everything, how much crow have you been consuming around here for Beltre? I'm sure the others were anything but gentle.
  16. Hi guys, been awhile since I posted. Been busy with our season and my new puppy "Beckett" lol. I've been follwing as best I can. Not as much as I have the last couple years, but I'm not completely out of touch. Couple quick things. For all the Beltre haters out there, ha ha. to all the fools who lost there minds when the Sox started out slow and TB took off like a rocket. How anyone could believe TB could keep that pace all year is beyond me. Here we are in late June and only a handful of games separate the three contenders in the AL East. Just as most of us expected it to be. So next season let's not jump to conclusions or off of cliffs after 30 games. All in all I think the Sox have a competitive team as stands. I don't believe they need a big move to set up for the 2nd half run. Maybe a few minor tweaks here and there, some BP help, maybe an OF if things don't get healthy for the current group. Hope to be around a bit more, but even though I may not be posting much, I still try to swing in and catch up on everything. Cheers guys and go Holland!!!!
  17. France is playing Horrible. A lot of the favorties haven't played well. brazil looks pretty good. Not sure what Kaka's status is. Holland has a good shot at sneaking up and snatching this WC I think.
  18. Nice work. Always nice to hear some first hand accounts from the affiliates Welcome to Talksox.
  19. Halladay pitching in the NL, it was only a matter of time IMO. Won't be shocked at all to see him throw another no-hitter while pitching in Philly. Good for him. Always liked the Doc, especially now since he is out of the AL East
  20. Ortiz will be going year to year from now on. If anyone offers him multiple years he should jump on it. Just look at Vlad's deal for comparison's.
  21. No. They are said to be looking for premium talent in return. They could be part of a package though.
  22. I'd like for him to stay on as the DH/backup catcher. But if his asking price is too high then they should do their due diligence and find out how to get the most value for him. 5/80M seems a bit much for him. i would guess it will be something more like Posada's deal if he re-signs. If he hits the open market there is no telling.
  23. I wouldn't mind them making a "new" Fenway, but when you see how beautiful a field like the Twins new can be it's hard to resist saying start from scratch.
