It could be one big deal or 2 semi big ones. I think if they don't sign Lester it will be the 2 semi big ones. A deal for one year of Price and then someone like Hamels. If Lester signs then it could be a controlled 20 something Ace like Sale. Either way a rotation headed by Price and Hamels of Lester and Sale would be insane.

I'd be shocked if the team traded Xander over 1 year of Cepedes. If both are signed i actually think it makes Betts more expendable. His value is right up there and it seems the team has no plans for him at 2B(because of pedey), SS or 3B. I still think it's Cepedes that gets traded for SP. If Hanley and Pablo are signed this is what i see the positions being C Vaz 1B Napoli 2B Pedey SS Xander 3B Pablo LF Hanley CF Castillo/Betts RF Betts/Castillo/Vic Betts is gonna have to beat out a healthy Vic coming out if camp as i don't see them moving Vic in this scenario in case Castillio and/or Betts struggle. Betts could be traded for more P if they Can't sign Lester. I keep dreaming they sign Lester and trade Cepedes and SP prospect for Price. Cepedes for Porcello is more likely tho.

I can't see how Hanley will be any worse in LF than Gomes or Ramirez have been in the past. Xander is not getting traded imo.

Btw Pablo's agent is saying he has not agreed and is still weighing offers. Does look to be getting closer tho.

Hanley will be in the OF. No way he plays SS. His defense is worse than Xander's. If his health geys better from playing in the OF and his bat returns, Hanley could be the steal of the off season. It wasnt long ago yanks fans were dreaming of him in pinstripes. Lets keep it real. Don't be jealous jacko. Pablo will only be 33 at the end of his deal. Just the right age for the Yanks to give him another 5 year deal.

Getting both would be great. Getting Hanley off SS and into the OF should only help his health issues. Also these are flashy signings but they aren't stupid like Crawfords deal. Crawford never should have been signed as they had Elss whos was the same player but better. Also it was a 7/140 deal, the Sox are getting the other 2 for 5/180ish. Also these signings may convince Lester to take a bit less as the Sox are showing they are going for it and not screwing around. Should be an interesting day

That would be surprising. It doesn't look to have caught on anywhere else yet. Normally I'd call BS like Jacko did but since the guy has broke a few things lately I'll let it play out.

The team not signing Lester might a was may have been you know, Lester's choice. His camp could very well from the beginning told all teams that he planned to meet with all interested parties regardless of early offers. So the Sox gave him their bumped up starting offer to show they are serious and have agreed to negotiate further when Lester's camp is ready(after his meetings with Chc and Atl). We just don't know. I'm not saying how the team is handling negotiations right or wrong, I'm just trying to point out there is another side(Lester's side) that everyone seems to be forgetting about when trying to figure out why it's not a done deal yet.

Even if his number is a CC Fatassia deal? No thanks. Listen I want Lester back too but not at some outrageous price. Signing him into his late 30's is risky enough as it is even tho he's been a horse. But so was CC until he wasn't, so was Halladay, and even the immortal noodle arm of Cliff Lee has shown signs of breaking down. I mean some on here are worrying about Panda at the end of the Sox current offer in his age 33 maybe 34 seasons but just assume Lester will be Lester through to the end of his deal. Both are crap shoots for the 2nd half of the deals, but I don't see anyone worrying about Lester being dead weight at the end of his contract. If you are worried about Panda you should also be worried about Lester too.

A vesting option for IP would be good. Or a team option with a decent sized buyout could work as well. We will have to wait and see. It be nice if the signings were fast and furious like the NFL but MLB FA seems like it prefers the snails pace.

Maybe. There have been reports speculating Pandas relationship with SF has not been good the last couple seasons. Guess we will see here shortly as he looks like he could sign soon.

The house was taken off the market a couple weeks ago. The sale is just now becoming final I believe. Funny how the writer failed to mention that. Guess his little snippet of news would have been less interesting.

I read that yesterday. Doesn't mean anything really. He just purchased a home in Atlanta for the off season and that doesn't mean he's signing with the Braves. He can always buy a bigger house with his ned deal in Boston or rent a place for the summer.

No. Longo has to big of an injury history to warrant Betts imo. If it was Cechinni and Owens + another low level guy it be worth considering. LH bat is gonna have to come from somewhere, so that kind of trade is gonna have some ripple effects on the roster. I'd be surprised if TB traded Longo within the division tho.

Holt is gonna get plenty of playing time as super sub and shouldn't be platooned. That takes away from his usefulness imo. Pedroia needs to sit more often, I don't care if he does piss and moan, he's got to stretch his career another 7 years and the hand injuries are piling up. Castillo is a rookie and may struggle and Vic makes JD look like Cal Ripken jr. He will get plenty of AB's.

Rumors have Detroit shopping Price to make room for Scherzer. Sox should be all over that imo. From what I've read they are looking for a COF and a SP under control and/or BP piece. Cepedes+ SP and maybe a low level lotto ticket may work well for both teams.

It's 40-50M more then what they offered him a few months ago. In that context it could be deemed "aggressive".

It could also be at the agents request that an offer not be made. He might be hoping all the publicity Panda's visit to Boston will make SF bump their offer and then he gets to shop it back to Boston. Who knows? We are only getting glances at what is really going on behind the curtain.

Why do you assume the can't work on both at the same time? The two aren't mutually exclusive.
