It's already been agreed to. The Red Sox will not back out of the deal if they can't sign to a extension today. I'm sure this was a window to see if it was possible to extend him now, but more to gauge how hard it will be to sign him over the next year. The window is not for the trade to be completed. It was a window granted to discuss a possible extension. I'm sure since everything else has passed and they feel like they can come to terms with Agon at some point in the near future, the deal will go through. And if not guess what? I'll be right here rooting for whoever they put on the field. You can go jump off a bridge if you feel it necessary.

And neither one has a Fing clue as to what the situation is. They are not part of the discussions, and there un-named sources that wish to stay anonymous because they really aren't involved either can go pound sand. The 2pm deadline means absolutely nothing.

There having trouble agreeing? Where do you get that? The reason it's not finalized is because they are waiting for Luxury Tax purposes. A deal is probably already agreed to and will be finalized later. Just because it's not made official or the numbers leak out doesn't mean it's not already worked out. Look at the actual trade for proof. The deal was struck and completed 2 days before it was made public. He won't get passed April without a new deal. Just relax. And Agon will be in a Red Sox uniform even if they don't have an extension in place by 2pm today.

Very true. Boras could probably convince him. Big market, big ballpark to really help his line as he enters FA market. Still don't like Lee long term. I'd be ok with them letting Doubront have the 5th spot. Maybe get a veteran on short money for in case. In no way do I want them giving Lee 6 years at 20M+ per.

If not this off season, next off season he could be an attractive DH/4th OF option.

I'm only against him if it takes a Holliday type deal to sign him. If it's closer to Bay's deal I'm more then ok with it.

I was alright with Beltran being in LF for 2011. But it won't be for Dice-K. He's only waiving his NTC for a team closer to home. So west coast or bust for him.

Berkman has a creeky knee. If it flairs up he will be a statue in the OF.

The thought had crossed my mind. But then I shuddered when I thought what it was like watching Youk play LF awhile back. No thanks. The need a RHH OF bat. And a couple BP pieces and be done with it. I wonder if they are considering Magglio if Werth's price won't come down. Pretty much guarantee Werth going to Detroit and the Sox losing out on picks though.

The first thing they need to do is sit him against the really good LHP. I think that will go a very long way into him having a solid 2011 IMO.

Crawford is out IMO. They aren't giving 2 players 100M+. That and the line up would be extremely LH. That's not so good in a division with CC, Lee and Price. Who knows maybe his price will be right? Everyone was shooting for the moon in packages for Agon and were woefully off. Maybe the same be true for what Crawford actually signs for. With Agon in, I have joined the Werth side of the fence for the time being.
