Has the FO actually made a public statement about Agon? All I remember was a bunch of reporters reporting the deal, which basically got confirmed by the "extension window" story. I don't recall the Sox FO actually making a statement. I could be wrong though, I came in late and was skimming hard

Why not request a small negotiating window to see if you can get him caught up in the moment and jump at a good not great deal? Agon didn't bite. No big deal. Now Theo can complete the trade with a better understanding of what it will take to sign him and have a year to get it done. People are bailing after 24 hours of negotiation where a deal got basically 90% done. I wouldn't think it would be unreasonable to assume they can finish that last 10% in the 11 month window have after trading for him. Let's not forget they Sox don not negotiate like the Yankees. They where never going to come in with there top offer and not try and haggle. It's just not how they operate. If anyone(this is to the board at large not directed at you Spud) has failed to realize that at this point and is upset, that's a you problem. And by the way I was excited when it was Agon just being traded to the Sox. All this extension mess came soon there after

Well before the Werth signing I would have agreed 8 years was too much. But with Boras raising the bar for every FA soon to be FA out their with that albatross, the Sox may be a little more willing to deal. I think he wants 8, the Sox want 6, they will settle on 7(This off season or next). I think the Sox where trying to get a "deal" and they where hoping Agon would flinch first in the extension window period. But he didn't and now Theo knows he will have to offer that extra year if he wants to extend him. Again let's just let this run out. Either that or GoBruins is going to be jerking off to all of us bickering with each other all night long. And why give him the gratification?

They can contend with what they have now. They won't be the 2nd best run scoring team in the league, but they are no worse them league average at the moment. And like I said earlier, probably still better then what SF just won with.

F the God damn whining about the ticket prices. They still have 130m+ invested in this team. You want cheaper tickets? Star petitioning to get Fenway knocked to the ground.to the ground and build a new one with more seats. Or just don't pay to go to the game. It is really that simple..

That's probably at least league average and probably better then SF lineup that just won them a WS..

Agon maybe taking the headlines, but if this wasn't going on the biggest story in baseball would be how Boras was able to get Werth double the contract of Bay. If I'm Bay, I'm firing my agent now
