  1. I think if they got Martin, Montero would be getting another year in the minors. Which woud be good fr experience. No need to rush him.
  2. Wait you want the team to drop "elite" $ in Crawfords lap, but would have an issue with them doing it for Agon? Why cause you have to wait a season? Agon is a way more complete hitter, and fits the mold of what the Red Sox need in the middle of their line up much more then Crawford does. You plead and plead for this FO to sign big name talent, and when a deal that makes sense all around comes up, you all the sudden change your mind? What if it's Pujols? Is 200M still too much of an investment? And feeling fleeced or not Hoyer is not going to get a big return from any GM he trades with. And exactly who is going to out spend the Red Sox for Agon? The situation wil be similar to that of the Yankees and Lee dealing this ff season. Everyone is going to see the match and the $ will be there. There may be one team that gets into the bidding, but ultimately the Sox should be able to top any offer. LAA may want him if Morales doesn't come back strong. But if they drop big coin this off season, they may not have the resources to bid with the Red Sox next off season.
  3. Makes you wonder. But Mo could have just been using the Sox to get an extra year out of the Yankees, and maybe Theo knew this and knew he wasn't going to accept their offer. I doubt the Sox will be interested in Martin unless they can put Salty in AAA(not sure of his option status). That would be decent depth for them. If Salty and Martin both come in hot in ST and gain some value they could move them for other pieces as well.
  4. Okay everyone, let's go over this for the umpteenth billion time. AGON IS NOT GOING TO COST THE FARM! How can some of you not grasp this concept. 1. He is coming off of shoulder surgery and although it's possible, it's very doubtful he get's traded before he get's back on the field. 2. SD is not going to trade him unless they are out of it. Who knows how long that will take, everyone was waiting for the shoe to drop there all season and it didn't until the last day of the season. 3. Everyone keeps thinking it's going to take a Tex to Atlanta package to get Agon now. This was probably true at last year's TDL. With SD holding on to him, they have let the window of opportunity for a large blue chip laden package close. Now they are looking more at a package that Atlanta got when shipping him to LA for 1/2 the season. A very average MLB player(Kotchman) and a middling prospect with a measurable amount of upside(Stephen Marek ). Kalish is almost an over pay at this point as far as prospects go.
  5. Pretty sure anything he's ever written here was either, blocked or deleted. So either your him, or your lying about knowing about him. I'm not sure which one is dumber.
  6. Anywhere but Detroit. If Beltre takes the Oakland deal and Detroit signs either Crawford or Werth the Sox are stuck with no 1st round picks. They have been taking advantage of the compensation pick system for awhile. Guess it was bound to happen that they get screwed one of these years.
  7. Maybe that means Konerko is more available now? Wouldn't mind him on a 2-3 year deal. Plays 1B this season and takes over DH afterward for Ortiz. Haven't seen the Sox linked to him though. This also has to bring the price down a bit on Crawford and Werth. Neither is worth double what Dunn is IMO.
  8. I knew it was something like that. You will remember my initial thought was that was going to be too rich for Boston's liking. I would wager he's looking for at least 5/80M to leave Philly. Not sure if that's the best deal in the world.
  9. Figured it was best to start grouping the signings instead of giving each it's own thread. I know SF is getting "Pat the Bat" dirt cheap. But you would have thought they be trying to upgrade there.
  10. LOL not making 11M. Papelbon will be the CL while he's in a Red Sox uniform. If he's not closing for the Sox, he's pitching on another team. NWIH he settles for being the Closer
  11. Set up candidate?
  12. I mentioned back after V-Mart signed, if they where looking for a platoon catcher instead of a starter, I wasn't sure why they wouldn't just bring Tek back on a one year deal. Well now they have. I'm ok with Salty/Tek platoon next season. I wonder if this is the kind of move a700 was hoping for to calm his nerves?
  13. Nice post. I think those may be reasonable offers.
  14. Yup I do that deal 10/10
  15. This was brought up at MLBTR. I still think he could be a very good pick up. I know there is a question with his hip. But if he's splitting time with Salty, the strain on his hip should be less.
  16. What did they give up for RR again?
  17. He worked well for a 1.5 season and kind of flamed out at the end, was traded again and became a solid piece of a WS winning BP. I would happily take RR back and give him another shot. I wouldn't even be opposed to them getting MDC back if it was a minor league or league minimum deal.
  18. Werth 2008-2010 OPS+, 2008- 121 2009- 129 2010- 145 Agon 2008-2010 OPS+, 2008- 139 2009- 162 2010- 152 Think that about wraps that up . Thanks for the site Dipre.
  19. Where would one find the OPS plus rankings? Isn't that the best combination of a players OPS with adjustments for park factors? I'm looking on Fangraphs but don't see it anywhere.
  20. Won't be surprised if he comes back on a cheaper deal.
