  1. I was really hoping we'd get Lackey, but the Yankees may go with CC, AJ, Andy, Hughes, Joba...and I'd like to see them bring back Wang and go with Sheets as well. This way, the Yankees would have some serious depth to fall back on, as well as potentially the best pen in baseball. I wonder if the Yankees would pursue Hanley Ramirez. He could shift to left field [he's really not much of a shortstop] and the Yankees could use some of their depth [Joba/Hughes] and minor league talent [Montero] to land him. I have to admit, this strike, counter-strike going on between the Yankees and Sox sure is compelling.
  2. Why is Buchholz gone? Why not just keep him?
  3. I think this closes the door on Bay/Holliday for the Sox. The Angels HAVE to get one now, considering how they lost Lackey AND Figgins. Bad day for Boras. The Sox are out of the running for Holliday now, I think, and the Yankees were never in it. If the Angels sign Bay, he has no market.
  4. What happened to "not being able to compete with the Yankees"? More proof of the front office's pulling the wool over the eyes of their fans. Remember that the Sox have made the biggest contract move of the off-season so far, and probably the second-biggest this off-season when all is said and done. If this was the Yankees...cries of the evil empire, financial inequities...gotta love hypocrisy.
  5. Phillippe Aumont of the Mariners and outfielder Michael Taylor of the Phillies are among the players heading to Toronto in the trade.
  6. The Angels have just been hammered. Losing Figgins and Lackey, and watching Seattle grab Lee and Figgins. The Mariners are the faves at this point if you ask me.
  7. Ever notice how people flock to the board when the Sox do something big?
  8. I'll take Sheets. Justin is good, but he doesn't have the stuff Sheets does. Bad day in Yankeeland. Lackey goes to the Red Sox, Halladay gets away. Mariners become super-dangerous with Felix and Lee. Matsui looks like he's heading to the Angels. The path to the World Series may go through the Bronx, but it's full of f***ing potholes.
  9. You know what's really funny? Dipre must be DYING to get his two cents worth in here. The biggest more the Red Sox have made since 2007...and he leaves a few days before. I'm annoyed you got Lackey, but at least it came with a silver lining.
  10. Does anyone have the exact details of the deal?
  11. I don't really understand this deal too much.
  12. I think you need to debate the AG versus Tex debate when you get him. Nice move on getting Lackey. I didn't think you guys had a shot at getting him. This gives you guys the best starting rotation in the game right now.
  13. Far cry from the 40 million we heard tossed around.
  14. http://www.nesn.com/2009/12/source-red-sox-talks-about-adrian-gonzalez-going-nowhere.html It makes no sense for them to trade Gonzalez at this point. Not unless they restock their entire farm system.
  15. If you do get Lackey, you'll have a solid 1-2-3. Still need to replace Bay though.
  16. This is the way the off-season works. The Red Sox talk about a player for weeks...and the Yankees quietly go and get that player in a fast strike. I'd be surprised if you get Lackey.
  17. Lackey is taking a physical with the Red Sox.
  18. How about Damon, asking for 3 years, 36 million? There are going to be a LOT of rude awakenings.
  19. That kind of injury could happen at any time.
  20. Honestly..I don't really care. SFOC can run it, as long as we watch the trades with his son:thumbsup:
  21. I highly doubt that Wang goes to the Red Sox. You know who I think would really go for him? The Mets. Big ballpark. Good infield defense. National League. Guy was tailor-made for a pitchers park in the NL.
  22. Bite me. I'll be the commish. You need someone who understands baseball.
