  1. I take my vote back. I will abstain from this one. This for the rest of you. So we have one for Drew, and one for Abreu. Factor in everything here, including the contract.
  2. Umm...the Sox will have a 9.5 game lead over the Yankees on March 24, 2007. However, everything changes when...hang on, door bell...BRB.
  3. No matter your lead, I refuse to believe that a team that has Crisp in right, WMP to center, and Manny in left can ever win the AL East title.
  4. Drew hurt? What a surprise. Never, ever, in a million years, saw that coming. Okay, so we have two for Abreu, and none for Drew so far.
  5. As of today, here are the stat lines: ABREU AVG .239 | HR 2 | RBI 22 | OBP .316 | SLG .306 | 6 SB DREW AVG .237 | HR 2 | RBI 13 | OBP .346 | SLG .333 | 2 SB The both are absolutely horrible, with Abreu coming in with a 621 OPS and Drew with a 679 OPS. Both have been bad in the field, Abreu being worse and afraid of the wall, and Drew getting bad reads on the ball. Drew has been marginally better at the plate, with Abreu more of a threat on the paths. Overall, I have to say the Abreu has been worse. However, considering you guys are on the rope for four more years after this one, and Abreu is gone after this season, I think it shifts back to Drew. Come to think of it, they both royally suck. Pretty much equally. At least Abreu is gone after this year. Your thoughts?
  6. Wang figured out that his sinker is more effective against the Sox if he mixes it up with something else. Which is why he had a more successful start against the Sox. As for Wakefield, he doesn't have another pitch. When your fastball tops out at 77 MPH, you have to throw the knuckleball. The Yankees have finally remembered the old adage against knuckle ball pitchers: If it's high, let it fly, if it's low, let it go."
  7. Way to go Celtics. You lose out on Oden AND Durant. Tim Duncan Redux. I think the Celtics sold their soul for Bird. I think someone made a deal with the Devil and the Celtics are forever cursed.
  8. Say what you want about the Evil Empire, but Steinbrenner has often in the past donated his own money to help the unfortunate. To me, this shows a tremendous amount of class, dignity, and generosity. I, for one, applaud his philanthropy, and wish other owners would follow suit. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2880851
  9. I just got home too. Hit the bars after the game. The truth is, the Sox didn't look too good in this series. They were never really in the games they lost, and the Yankees fell apart after yet another bad call by the umps this year that went against them. If not for that call, a sweep was definitely a possibility. 9.5 games is still a tremendous number to make up, but if there is one thing I took away from this series is that both Mussina and Schilling are finished as top of the rotation starters. To tell you the truth, Tavarez scares me more than Schilling at this point. In fact, the only way Schilling beats the Yankees this year is if he faces Mussina, or vice versa. It seems like the Yankees have the rotation setup for the advantage again next series. I personally would like to see Dice and Beckett face off against Wang and Pettitte. Anyways, a good series against the Sox for my boys. All I am hoping for is for a Sox lead of 5 games by July 1st. If we can make up 4.5 games in 5 weeks, it's a race. Other than that, it's over, IMHO. You guys are making a huge thing of this Arod thing. He slid into second base, and bumped Pedroia. Big deal. I like baseball when it is played with a bit of an edge. I personally think umpires warning benches is ridiculous. Let the players police themselves. Other notes from this series.... 1)Farnsworth is garbage. 2)If you neutralize Papi, the Sox are most likely going to lose, and he looked most uncomfortable up there against Pettitte. It seems to me that Manny is having more trouble with that low outside slider than I have ever seen. 3)Tito stays with his starters a little too long, and Torre pulls them if their heart rate jumps over 60 beats per minute. 4) The Yankees seem to have figured out how to beat Wakefield. 5) Wang seems to have figured that against the Red Sox, throwing the same pitch 850 times in a row is a bad idea. 6) Arod is owning your pitching. Say what you want about clutch, etc., but if I were the Sox, I would walk that guy every time up. He has murdered you guys. The Angels seem to have our number, so 2 out of 3 is nearly a must for us to build on this momentum. That is all.
  10. As far as I know, yes.
  11. I simply don't believe that the Sox are going to continue this trend. The Sox are as good as their record, I don't think they can maintain this level of excellence. I've said it before, if the Yankees can close the Red Sox gap to 3 games by the All-Star break, it's over for the Sox. I, however, don't think they will.
  12. They did nothing to provoke it other than wearing Red Sox apparrel. I was there, and will be there again on Wednesday. Look, you guys miss the big picture. After it is all done, the ringleaders [myself, Larry, etc.], usually shake hands with the guy(s) and tell them they are good sports. They usually laugh and say that they give it to us worse up in Fenway. You guys might understand that if you actually went to more than a game or two a year. This last comment is attributed to all the idiots and losers who have posted in this thread.
  13. Nah, they won't heckle you that badly. You would be a guest of mine, and therefore, exempt from it. I, however, would be heckled for bringing a Sox fan to the game. Actually, the Sox fans who give back as well as they get are the ones we respect.
  14. Yup. Proud of it. We have the most fun, the funniest chants, we rip on opposing fans, right fielders, and box seats. My company has good seats on the floor level about 35 rows up, but I love sitting out there. The atmosphere is the best in the stadium. P.S. If any of you talk soxies are going to be in New York, I have an extra 1-2 tickets for nearly every Yanks/Sox game. Don't worry, if you are internet tough guys/real pussies, I'll make sure no one heckles you. Then you can go back to your friends and brag about how you were all big and bad. Seriously, the offer stands for you guys. It would be cool to hang out with the other side.
  15. Like I said, the East is pretty boring right now. I still believe that you guys are not as good as your record, and we are better than ours. Plus, it would be nice to actually care about the AL East.
  16. Well, we seem to have the pitching advantage the whole series. A Yankees sweep sure puts some life into the AL East. I know, presumptuous on my part.
  17. LOL! That's my section there, Section 39. The leader of the chant is Homo Larry. We have been doing this chant for years. It's all done in fun, it's done during the sixth inning when the grounds crew comes out to smooth out the infield. Actually, at the end of every one, we always shake hands with the fan we taunt, because it's just done to get a laugh out of everyone. Also, for the record, no one has ever gotten into a fight into the bleachers because of it, mainly because if he did, the fan would get pummeled. It doesn't matter how big you are. If you are getting heckled, and throw the first punch, you will get your ass kicked, and then thrown in jail. I've been to Fenway, and gotten heckled much worse than that, but I take it since I'm in Fenway. Last night, there were seven fights in the stands. Zero of them in the bleachers. We have been there for years, we police ourselves. P.S. Good game.
  18. Congrats Jacko. My brother just got his results for the USMLE step one, and if the amount of studying he had to do is any indication of what you had to go through, you earned it. Well, I will be at the game today, and if any of you are in New York, I have an extra if you guys want it.
  19. Dammit...my taunt of the Red Sox having the highest payroll in baseball history and not making the playoffs will be over after one season of using it. Yankees suck. I love 'em, but they suck.
  20. Net time, try quoting the whole article. He explicitly says that he did steroids and was wrong in doing so. Unlike some others [bonds, Ortiz, etc.], at least he's man enough to come out and say so. Doing steroids is wrong, and cheating, but at least he's clean and fessed up.
  21. I agree Kilo. Sadly, I agree.
  22. No one is a bigger fan of Mariano than me. However, all players get old and lose it. His time as an elite closer is over. One day, Ortiz won't turn on the inside fastball, Jeter won't be able to inside out the fastball, etc. It has started for Rivera.
  23. Has it occurred to any Yankee fans that there is just as much, if not more, of a chance of the Yankees getting swept than the other way around when Boston comes to town? Look, a Yankee sweep makes this a race. Anything else is just a waste.
