  1. You mean like calling 26 straight fastballs from Beckett in a game in 2006? Sure you do. That's exactly what you mean, I know.
  2. You truly expect Varitek to be starting catcher at the age of 42? The guy is an old 35. His bat speed has decreased drastically. He hit .238 and .255 in the last two seasons, respectively. He will not get better, he will continue his decline. By age of 42, he'd be lucky to break .200 Where I have a lot of respect for him as a player, I don't have any believe he has a chance in hell of being a starting catcher in seven years. For any team in baseball. I caught for a season. I ached every day. I was also 16. Posada can be a starting catcher at 40 because he can hit. Varitek is quickly becoming an offensive liability, and at that age, he will be a defensive liability. That's like Yankee fans saying that Jeter will be the starting Yankee shortstop when he's 45. When that happens, then Varitek will be a starting catcher at 42. I for one, hope he is your starting catcher for the next seven years. That means you are playing for fourth place and that your farm system is outright terrible. You consider what you said reasonable? I respect most of your baseball opinions, but on this one, you totally s*** the bed.
  3. This is just plain too weird for me.
  4. I think what was lost on a lot of people was that McGowan actually looked better till he got tired. The Blue Jay manager kept him in the game way too long. His breaking pitch looked good at the stadium.
  5. I have Pedroia and Kaz Matsui. See a match?
  6. Perfect strategy. Starter goes seven, Joba in the 8th, Mo in the 9th. All in all...a nice final opening day for the Yankees. A well played game, dramatic, and fun.
  7. Someone trade with me. I feel lonely. Ryan Howard/Carl Crawford on the block. Why not?
  8. I wasn't sure, I didn't see the error, and to tell you, I wasn't sure of the rule. Like I said, I was simply wondering more than anything.
  9. I was curious about it more than anything.
  10. I have a question. Tom Gordon gave up three runs in the ninth, and then there was an error by the catcher. Shouldn't the runs he gave up after that be counted as unearned runs? How would I dispute that?
  11. If I veto it, will you trade me Putz?
  12. Can I vote against the trade too? Just for shits and giggles?
  13. I haven't made a trade in two days. Getting itchy trigger finger. James Shields and Eric Byrnes are the big guys on the block.
  14. Assuming they clear, he's traded. Gone. See ya.
  15. I have Eric Byrnes. Ready to move. Also, I have Shields [TB], looking for a reliever.
  16. Bad move. Patterson earned it. Albaladejo, Rasner, and Bruney didn't.
  17. Come on..trade with me...I'm a junkie. I need to trade.
  18. True, but Cano and Melky are bound to improve. Jeter hasn't shown any signs of slowing down, and neither has Abreu, but if you're going on the wrong side of 30, that means Manny, Ortiz, Drew, and Lowell will start their slide. From an offense standpoint, the Yankees have the best offense in baseball, even the Tigers, mainly due to the fact the Yankees walk more and see more pitches. Offensively, I take the Yankees at 3B, 2B, SS, and LF. Give the Tigers DH, 1B, RF, and CF. Catcher is basically a wash. The Yankees have a crapload more depth than the Tigers offensively. Either way, I admit, it's close. Miggy isn't going to have the weak NL pitching to feast on. I don't think anyone in the world expects Mags to put up the same numbers. Anyways, should be fun.
  19. There are a lot of question marks for both team. I look forward to a great and fun season between the both of us.
  20. Guys, I have way too much offense at this point. Everyone is available, even Crawford. I need more SP and desperately need RP. On offense, I could use a catcher. Guys I'd like to move: SP Chris Young [enough said] SP James Shields [ditto] 3B Adrian Beltre [ditto] C Y.Molina [solid, but unspectacular] Util Frank Thomas [awesome OBP, RBI's and Runs] SS Peralta [better than some SS that are starting out there] 2B Matsui [once he fixes his *******, will steal you 30 bases] RP Weathers [saved 39 games last year] Let me know. Best way to trade with me is on IM. AIM: sith712 Y!: sith712 msn: mohamedwalid@hotmail.com ICQ: 1710993 If you don't have any instant messengers, we can meet in the sim league chat room. LETS TRADE!!! LOL!
  21. Joba will not start. Period. It's not the top 6. It's the top 5. Period. End of story. He will not go into the rotation unless the Yankees are out of the race. Let's say the Yankees are in first place or a game out in July. You are willing to lose Joba for three weeks [let's say he is having a good year in the pen], with no guarantee he will be effective, possibly costing you the playoffs? Get real. Under the radar? In New York? It's not that, it's just what makes sense. This stuff doesn't.
  22. How are the Sox that much better in everyone's national predictions? The Sox finished two games ahead of the Yankees last year. Both teams were down to the Guardians 3-1 in the playoffs. The Red Sox had the advantage of a four game set, and went on to win the W.S., while the Yankees had no guarantee of not losing 4-1 if the series had been seven games. This year, it is very doubtful that the Yankees will have 39 games started by minor leaguers [not counting the games started by Hughes/Kennedy] like they did last year. The Yankees, with a full season of Hughes/Kennedy/Chamberlain, have better pitching. The Yankees are much healthier going into the season than they were last year. Don't forget, Pavano was our opening day starter last year. Conversely, the Red Sox are without Schilling for at least half the season, with Lester starting the season rather than coming back from cancer and missing most of the season last year. Your heralded rookies, Buchholz [minors] and Ellsbury [bench] are not, at this time, serious contributors. The national media is a joke. I think the Yankees win the division, but it comes down to what Schilling said. Between the Yankees and Red Sox, the team that has more games started by it's original starting five wins the division.
