Here's a question. Who exactly is going to lineup to throw $100 million for 4 years at this guy?
Not the Red Sox.
Not the Mets [money better spent on a closer].
Not the Yankees [need pitching and 1B, not another OF].
Not the Angels [they'd rather keep Tex],
Who does that really leave?
Cubs? Doubt it.
Giants? Doubt it.
Dodgers? Doubt it [although most likely to deal with him, but nowhere close to the dollars he's asking].
I can't really see where he would go. First of all, what team needs a power-hitting OF who will be 42 at the age of the contract ending making 25 million a year? That's a very, very short list. May not be one.
I think that Boras really overplayed his hand here.
