  1. I just think Papi is still hurt, to be honest. Wrist injuries [i believe] take a long time to heal.
  2. Oh my goodness, someone was going to have to be down 2-1. You guys are acting like it's the end of the world. Guys, home field advantage returned to the Rays. It's not a big deal. If you lose tomorrow, it's a big deal. If you win tomorrow, it's a best of 5.
  3. New Zealand: Where the men are men, and the sheep are nervous.
  4. Shall I say that my predictions this year have been...um....less than stellar? If the Red Sox win the series, I will pick the Red Sox to win it all. Then...you are doomed! :harhar:
  5. Why would Santana have cost us picks? We would have got him in a trade. So he would have cost us exactly: Hilligoss Marquez Melky Cabrera Ian Kennedy To tell you the truth...I would trade all four for two 1st/2nd round picks in the draft. We'll probably end up losing more value by signing these free agents then the players we would have traded away. I see the big picture Jacko. I just don't agree with a) the guy running it. that we weren't in the right place to make the move. We won 89 games. How much of a difference would Santana have made? Considering the wear and tear on the pen and the absolute terrible pitching by our back end, I'd say probably 5-7 games. We would have been right there at the end with the Red Sox. I see what the Sox are doing. They have a front office that can evaluate talent. We don't. You love this kid Melancon. Well, take a look at Masterson and Lowrie. How come their players make it to the bigs and contribute in two years, and ours are "superstars" in AA? You say it takes three years to evaluate a draft. It seems like the Red Sox bring them up in two years. I'm not sure I understand where you're coming from. Right idea. Wrong time. Wrong man. Keep in mind, we only have those extra picks because he couldn't sign the ones from this year. It's not like a bonus. This draft was an utter disaster.
  6. If I did, you guys would say I couldn't take the heat since my team lost. No win situation for us. At least I'm here giving you a chance at taking pot-shots at me.
  7. Go Rays. Lester loses a close one 3-2.
  8. I can't say I agree. It's part of the game. I want to watch baseball, not a video game. I think that the tenure system for umpires is ridiculous. I don't understand why the best umpires aren't chosen more efficiently for the playoffs.
  9. I thought the umpiring was very inconsistent. I don't think it favored either team overall, but one pitch one time in one location would be a strike, and the next time a ball. It happens. I don't think you can complain about a strike zone as much as a blown call [out/safe or fail/foul]. Both sides have to deal with the strike zone.
  10. What did he really say wrong? That injuries killed this Yankee season as well as the non-move for Santana? I'm not a blanket Yankee defender, but I don't see what he said wrong there?
  11. I love English girls. Now that I got this out of the way...since you claim to be learning the rules, let me "enlighten" you. This is really so cheery, you either are an extremely happy person, or as psychotic as yeszir. I haven't decided yet. Fine. You get one post. That's it. From me at least. I am a Yankee fan. So...to get on the good side of everyone here, you should argue with me often. If you actually make sense when you argue with me, well, then you will be one of the few. The very select few. Like...there is only one other person who argues with me on this board and actually does it intelligently. We have like 15 million members too. One really smart person, and 14,999,998 idiots [excluding me and the other smart guy]. You actually might be more cheery than yeszir. I am officially worried. Be afraid.
  12. He would be booed if he didn't come up big. The Yankee fans, from what I see, won't boo players unless they NEVER succeed in the post-season. Nothing is absolute, but that's why for the most part, you don't see the Yankee core booed. That's why they'd boo Arod, or Cano before they'd boo a Jeter or a Pettitte. Just the way it is here. Think about it. Jeter absolutely killed the Yankees in 2007 against the Guardians, hitting into 473 double plays in the 4 game series, but nobody booed him. Arod, who even hit a homer and hit a respectable .260+, got booed.
  13. Blame Canada.
  14. I don't want to spend 18,000 a year on tickets for a team that has a crappy GM. My fandom won't change. How much I care to invest probably will. As for supporting my team, I probably see more games in a year than you do in a decade. So let's not go there, ok?
  15. They should ban you too. I hate you.
  16. Ban him. First post, can't even pick the right forum. When did we allow Canadians anyways? Remember Gagne? BAN HIM.
  17. I never liked Torre as a manager, but I would never have booed him. One is a manager, the other is a player. Comparing apples and oranges. If it wasn't for him, it would be 90 years and still counting. Believe it. I would cheer him. You don't have to like what he did, but he gave it his all for you until he got conned by Boras. Even then, he still played to his ability in July.
  18. Wrong sport, moron. I used to umpire. He was out. The tag was made, and he had control. He dropped the ball after he fell to the ground. I wish he was safe, but the right call was made. He was out.
  19. World Series MVP in 2004. I seem to remember something Yankee fans used to chant....had something to do with 1918 or 86 years. He only carried your team last year to the World Series, hitting .375 and .409 in the ALDS/CS. Did he have a game-winning hit off of K-Rod? Terrible precedent? He only had a 1.060 OPS in July. Wait...he was still playing for your team then. Yeah, he was really tanking it...a .347 BA and a .587 SLG. For all the fans who would boo Manny if/when he ever comes back to Fenway: You've lost the right to criticize Yankee fans as ungrateful/fickle/etc. Forever.
  20. Yankee fans, in case you guys haven't noticed, like it when you come up big in the post-season. That's why players like O'Neill, Tino, Jeter, Bernie, Jeter, Pettitte are loved. Hell, Brosius still can't pay for a drink in New York. Bucky Dent is still the 3rd most famous shortstop in Yankee history, after Jeter and Rizzuto. All because of one swing. Arod hasn't done it in the post-season. Until he does, he'll get booed. It isn't fair, it isn't right, but that's the way it goes here. I may be looking at winning the lottery first, but if Arod hits a series winning homer against Papelbon, trust me...they won't boo him again for a very long time.
  21. What the hell is "So gans"?
