  1. Merloni touched on it on EEI. Houck has options left and the Sox are expecting to pick up a pitcher. Best to have Houck is depth right now and then sort things out after the deadline
  2. So hitting under .200 has increased his value?
  3. I’m hoping Gray signs with the Yankees next year. Scooping power pitchers out of Colorado could be useful
  4. Not sure Downs has the value he once had. He’s been abysmal in aaa this year
  5. Not surprised the Sox didn’t get Scherzer. I don’t think Bloom is all in on 2021. The system needs time to mature and I don’t think the Sox anticipate being able to hang with CWS or HOU. Sox are under the cap this year too. My bet is the Sox see what they have on Sale and Houck for next year then make focused veteran additions to make a title run next year
  6. Yanks looking to move Voit. I guess plan is to get a SS either at deadline or in FA and shunt Gleyber to 2b and DJ to 1b thereby improving defense. Corey Seager will likely be that SS, IMO, assuming Dodgers don’t break the bank
  7. Scherzer to the Padres apparently
  8. Judge is far better than Gallo. But Gallo does balance out the lineup.
  9. Please. Infield hit, walk, 12 hopper seeing eye single and a homer. One ball hit hard
  10. He still misses bats enormously and would be a hell of an upgrade for a team looking for some rotational stability. This May also be an indictment that the Sox don’t think Sale is ready.
  11. Yanks still in on Trevor Story. WHY?? Have we not learned out lesson with Colorado hitters? Story is the epitome of a Colorado hitter. Career OPS splits H/A of .971/.747. That is the difference between an elite player and an okay player. Do not fall into the trap of thinking this guy is a 30+ HR, 5WAR player here. The dead ball separated him out to being an average hitter, above average for the position, but certainly not someone to give a huge contract or spend prospect capitol on
  12. Yanks aren’t staying under the cap next year. Goal was to reset this year, as misguided as that may be
  13. That’s true too. Cashman loved high OBP, low contact guys. Judge-Gallo-Stanton. Might end up with 600K’s between them if they ever can stay healthy for a full year
  14. I realize this is as much of a deal for 22 as it is for 21, but I’m not sure it needed to be done. If the Yanks were a single player away, then I’d say go for it. But they need so much to go right to be a force for the POs and right now it seems they’re playing for a wild card spot with a chance you’re out after a single game. That being said, they dealt from a position of strength. Otto finally showed his promise this year after years of poor control and maddening injury history. Hauver was older for an A ball prospect who’s 21 looks solid mostly because of what he did in his first 8 games. Duran probably has the highest ceiling and really started showing the starting 2b talent he’s had from the beginning. He’s the biggest loss. Smith is a talented offensive player who’s just destroyed balls this year but is old for his league. Outside of Duran, they’ve all got fringe starter futures and likely backup/utility futures or bullpen futures. This doesn’t hurt as much as losing Periera. While Pereira isn’t as highly touted (yet) as the guys going to the Rangers, he’s a legit CFer who can hit and we have almost none of that in the system. Meanwhile, the yanks have a pretty solid core of middle infielders coming up and dealt from a position of strength
  15. Looks like they kept Periera per Feinsand. He’s the best prospect, IMO
  16. 6 f***ing prospects. Three of which are actually good prospects in Smith, Duran and Pereira. Wtf?
  17. Yanks dealt Cessa and Wilson. It’s a cost cutting move. Wilson’s cash next year was a problem so they had to add Cessa to sweeten the deal. They’re trying to maneuver space under the cap and just made the team weaker. f***ing stop worrying about the cap, you’re the Yankees not the f***ing Marlins
  18. Fabian will not sign. He wants $3 mil, Sox won’t offer it
  19. Josh Smith is having a season for the ages. He is 23, but missed a season due to covid. He was a second rounder in 2019. Started off in A ball, and had a 1.275OPS in 11 games and rapidly moved to A+ ball. He continues to rake at a 1.056OPS clip with 9HRs in 38 games. He did have two IL stints this year which limited his availability.
  20. Everything sucks this year. The pen was dominant, now it blows huge leads. The rotation was dominant, no it's got holes and guys like Nestor Cortes are starting. The offense was dominant, now Greg Allen and Ryan Lamarre are offensive fixtures. This team went to s***. The managing went to s***. The team building went to s***. Time to gut the admin team and start over
  21. Hopeless Hal should sell. Fire Cashman, Fire Boone, Fire Thames. Here’s the mismanagement of the day. German was magical. Gives up a double to lead off the 8th. I don’t fault Boone for bringing in Loaisiga. I absolutely fault him for letting Loaisiga face a fourth batter. He got smacked three batters in a row, why the fourth? Then his choice of Britton with 2nd and 3rd no outs up 1 shows a total lack of knowing his team. Britton doesn’t K people. He gets ground balls. And he did exactly that to give up the lead. You go to Green there. I know he’s a bit spooked, but he’s the guy who gets K’s and you needed a K
  22. This is what happens when you’ve got a gutless sack of s*** leading the team. No accountability. Fire his ass
  23. I f***ing hate this Yankee baseball team. Gutless sacks of s***
  24. dealing Richards would be selling low and the only upside to Richards is the fact that he is controllable at reasonable money next year if he shows life at the end of this season. Right now, he has negative value. The sox have a chance to do something big, but I doubt they do it. I think Bloom et al realize the power vacuum in the AL with the Yankees falling off a cliff, so they won't sit entirely idle, but I doubt they pony up for a Kris Bryant or a Scherzer. Next year, presumably with Sale and Houck healthy from the start, Pivetta in the middle of the rotation and maybe a QO accepted ERod, they could spend on a big arm to have a formidable top 5. That plus a stabilized Durran in year two and a lineup that still has the 4 horseman should make for a top title contender. Too much uncertainty this year and too thin a farm to gut with the window likely being a year away
  25. I have no issue with having a hitter who will hit 30+ bombs and OPS .850+ a season. My bigger issue is the cliff Lemahieu went off and the rest of the team absolutely sucking ass
