  1. Stanton costs the Yanks $22 mil on the Lux tax ledger
  2. Stanton and Judge are not our problems this year. It’s Torres, Frazier, Gardner, our awful 1b spot, 2 months of Sanchez and Lemahieu.
  3. Kaprielian was about to be dfa’d as he was hurt. So be it on that one. Also, Boone f***s up again today. German falls apart in the 5th and Boone waits til the sacks are packed to have a lefty warming up. Because he waited, German faced Olsen who promptly drove in 2 runs. Cortes comes in and shuts down the A’s, but why wouldn’t you be proactive?
  4. Sacks packed, 1 out and Judge up vs a AAA pitcher. We don’t score. That sucks any way you slice it
  5. The lack of the sticky has helped our bats for sure.
  6. This offense still blows without the sticky stuff
  7. Mike Ford dealt to TB where he will likely have a career resurgence
  8. The team responded for two games after the hottest heat was put on their manager. Call it coincidence, rising to the occasion, or dumb luck. Who knows. They need to go on a tear
  9. Red Sox have allowed 70 runs in the last 9 games yet have gone 5-4 in that stretch. The lack of sticky stuff is not just bothering the Yanks!
  10. Deivi Garcia was absolutely awful in his last start. 4 walks in 1/3 an inning. His delivery is a mess. Luis Gil and Luis Medina were both promoted for today. Gil didn’t do well at AAA, Medina was good in AA. Tampa is where the O is at with Volpe, Wells, Hauver et al smashing balls. Those guys will likely be in High A soon
  11. Groome is going to be DFA’d this year, IMO. He’s damaged goods. Command not there. For a guy with a ton of K’s, he gets hit hard. He’s had a 3.38ERA in June, but that comes with a 1.6WHIP. You can hold him if you’re in a bridge year, but with a team currently holding a PO position and looking to add, his 40 man spot is incredibly tenuous
  12. Be careful trying to turn successful pen arms into starters. Whitlock was a good starter in the minors, but you’re talking about a lockdown swing guy who might be best served as a Swiss army knife
  13. https://www.audacy.com/wfan/sports/yankees/nick-turturro-on-yankees-it-might-be-time-for-a-new-voice?utm_campaign=www.audacy.com%252Fwfan&utm_content=1623697226&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_term=WFAN-AM&fbclid=IwAR3nfaOYZChbgsBBKxEbyOJTjeY0ZEsJgthFwFnPC34rPDB85TpvEacOeZY Soulless. Best description of this team I have heard
  14. Ultimately, as a DES pitcher, his stock isn’t gonna go higher. If I were him, I’d shoot for the Tigers. They have a good history of developing pitchers and would likely move fast up the chain into the bigs
  15. Why would he want to go to the Sox? If I was getting drafted, I’d want to go to a team that is rebuilding as that’ll provide a path to least resistance to major league service time
  16. I’m not complaining about the Voit acquisition. He did seek out Stanton. Sanchez and Judge were drafted/IFA signed. Outside of Stanton, the other ones are commendable rather than damnable. The problem this season is that Hal got cheap and instead of filling out our rotation with guys who take the ball 30 times a year, he took a guy who’s arm is wrecked and overspent for him. He also didn’t seem to anticipate that he’d need more OF depth. Either way, the GM did put together a team that should be good, his coaching staff isn’t executing and it’s shown. We lead the league (by far) in outs on the bases. That’s inexcusable for a playoff contender.
  17. That’s the thing, Cashman is a good GM. But he’s been here forever and sometimes you need a changing of the guard when you don’t get results
  18. Prior to his UCL tear in 2020, he had 12 of 13 seasons of 200IP or more.
  19. I’d hitch my wagon to Verlander all day long. Outside of TJS, the guy is just built differently. He’s our modern day Nolan Ryan
  20. If they don’t turn this around, then both have to go. I’m at the point where a new manager is something I’d support immediately. A new GM would be a late season decision if we are eliminated from P.O. candidacy
  21. Not sure your argument holds water. If the Yanks team has been playing over their heads the last 4 years then management should be getting kudos, not fired. I think you and I both know that the Yanks are better than this. If the current management team cannot maximize what’s given to them, then it’s time to try again
  22. The craziest thing is that Bloom turned the Sox around from DD’s cliff into a winner in 2 years. You don’t even get a full down season, just one bummer of a shortened who gives a f*** season. Now I don’t think the Sox are title contenders this year, but Bloom took a mountain of s*** and turned it into gold somehow. Adding a young ace to the mix takes the Sox from playoff contenders to World Series contenders. Sox are entering their window again
  23. The sticky stuff may give a higher spin rate, but the biggest thing it provides is better command. For a guy like Perez, command is absolutely key as even with a better spin rate, a fastball off the margins is a bomb. Take it from a guy who had some pine tar under his left long sleeve in college. It definitely helps when you’re sweaty as hell and just trying to keep from hitting a batter.
  24. There is gonna be no validity to Leiter “pricing himself out” of a higher spot. Higher spots have considerably more money attached. What’s Leiter’s leverage? I’ll go back to school? And risk blowing out an elbow and being a late 1st rounder or worse? For the 3 teams ahead of Boston in the draft, they’re all in lengthy rebuilds. An ace helps, but a position player is more reliable injury wise and those three teams have so many holes that they’re gonna take a guy they think can be a franchise cornerstone. If the position players look to be potential perennial all stars then taking them is the better bet. The Sox are in a different mode. They’re in the hunt and are lacking pitching in their system. It’s a match made in heaven for the Sox to draft a guy who can probably start 2022 in AA and maybe even make his debut late next season.
  25. I would love the game to relax their worry about sticky stuff, get rid of the shift and go back to a real baseball
